Dick was a very kind, considerate, friend and my department head for over 30+ years. He loved the excitement of the job and always stayed on the leading edge of Loss Prevention, both at Vons/Safeway and within the industry. He had many friends outside the company and was a well respected member of the Law Enforcement community.. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Jim Norton
Dick will always be in the hearts and minds of those whose lives he touched. I met Dick in 1983 and worked with him until his retirement in 2004. He was a teacher, mentor and friend who changed my life for the better. I owe him a huge debt of gratitude for all he taught me. I will miss him very much.
Worked with dick at Von's he was a great mentor. Way ahead of his time he was always looking ahead trying to make everyone's job and life a better one. He always talked of his family. He was a great father ,husband ,brother and over all person. I know he ll be duck hunting in heaven. R. I. P
Dick was always a kind and gentle man in my dealings with him. I moved to the neighborhood about 10 years ago and discovered he was interested in most of the good things in life as I was. I only wish I had been able to spend more time with him. He was always interesting and generous to a fault.
God bless your soul and will see you again one day.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My prays are with you and your family at this time of sorrow.
So sorry to hear of his passing.
We worked together at the "Little" Vons in the 60's and when I returned from the Army in 1971, who was there but "Dick" Gresswell, with a smile on his face and an outstretched hand to welcome me back.
He will be missed.
