Dear Mom:

It"s August 9, 2013. You've been away for more than a year. So much has changed. Papi is now here in Oregon, living in his little manufactured home. His home is mostly filled with you. Sometimes it's difficult, so much of you but he loves you and misses you deeply. It was crazy moving away from our home: all the things, so much stuff! But we did as best we could to manage through it. Mom, I have the best brothers and sister - they are selfless and so amazing! You must be so proud! Everybody gave so much as asked so little to help Dad. I am so blessed to have each of them in my life!

Papi and I go to church every Sunday. Yes, that's right and we say the Rosary but not together-he's very quick about it. What I have found is solice, calm and peace. There are many things I still disagree with but, it's a beautiful time that Papi and I share together - it's very special.

Your one year anniversary was hard. Not sure why it's called an anniversary. Time goes so quickly. Papi says before you know it, you're 80. He's so full of optimism! Did I say he misses you? Anyway, we made beans, sopa and tortillas on June 28,2013. I made them from the recipe you sent me while I was stationed in Florida. Papi said I did alright, Paula helped roll tortlllas- they were close to round! Actually I made fidio - it took me back, the smell of it all, the memories of drinking what was left of the tomatoe sauce...the sizzling, Mom,it was...you in the kitchen at that moment.

Mom, Dad still waits for you in his dreams. He prays for you that you are happy where you are but he is weary and doubtful because you have not come to visit him in his dreams. He thinks you are angry that we didn't get you home in time but I know that's not the case - we got you home and that's what matters. Convincing Papi, is another story. I believe you are beyond happy!! You are where we cannot imagine and you see the beauty in all things that we cannot possibly see!

I find it cazy to be writing this to you because, well, you already know it. But it gives me comfort to say it or rather write it.

I miss you Mom,I will always miss you! And I love you mucho! Keep us in your prayers, whisper in God's ear to watch over Papi!

Happy Mothers Day Mom! I try to keep happy thoughts of you in my heart. We all love you!

Mom - it's March 12! Banana Cream Pie time! I thought of you throughout the day. Missed you calling me and singing Happy Birthday. Although Carol did call and offered to sing to me - she's such a good sister!! There's still so much I miss about you, somany little things. I want to call you and share things and I forget sometimes you are not here yet, I know you are so I just start tallking to you. So much is changing Mom: besides me getting older, Dad will be coming to Oregon soon. I will do my best to take care of him not only because you asked (made me promise) but because I love him and want to share whatever time we have left together. All is working out Mom, not like we wanted but as you would say, as God wants it. I miss you a lot, especially today - our special day! Love you mucho and yes, there will be BC Pie!
