From her childhood home in Jefferson to the ranch in Stonewall, and all through the State of Texas, we will miss this unique and fine example of a strong, capable, intelligent, genteel, and loving Texas woman. She has changed our world forever.

I was never one to be awed by people's position or stardom. But while a student at UT Austin in the early 70's, I was a juggler in the Capitol Clown Club. They asked me to perform at a festival on Town Lake. As I was juggling, Lady Bird strolled by with her entourage. She stopped and talked to me, made me feel as it was a command performance. I will always remember her.

For several years, I worked at the radio station formerly owned by Former First Lady Johnson. I was the receptionist for about a year and often times, Mrs. Johnson would visit her the station to take a look around and see how things were going. Her secret service team would arrive before she would to make sure "everything" was okay for her arrival. Thirty minutes later, Mrs. Johnson would arrive...all smiles. She would greet every employee and was the most pleasant person you ever wanted to meet. My condolescenes to her family. God has a new angel in heaven.

I will never again see a Texas wildflower that doesn't remind me of this wonderful woman. Her presence will always be felt, especially here in Texas.

She was a special First Lady to our nation and to the State of Texas. Her love of nature was a great gift to America. Our deepest sympathy and thoughts go out to her daughters and family.

What a wondering lady and shining example of a gracious public servant. My prayers are with the Johnson family.
