He was born in Gray, Okla. on April 14, 1926 to Frank and Jessie (Watson) Symons.
R.C. was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He spent time in Germany, France, and Italy before being honorable discharged in 1946.
United in marriage to JoLee Kengle in 1952, they celebrated their 50th anniversary before her death in 2002. In 1959 they moved from Lamar, Colo. to Canon City where he worked in construction.

He enjoyed fishing, his veggie garden and working on his vehicles. R.C. was a regular at the pool hall and visiting the City Market grocery store daily.
He loved spending time with his grandchildren and attended many of their school functions and sporting events. He always found time to stop by his kid's home to visit and play with his "grand dogs". He was always ready to stay for dinner and most times got a dinner and dessert to go.
Throughout his life he enjoyed attending and sometimes hosting "The Symons Family Reunions". He was very close to his sibling all through his life as they had a large part in his upbringing after R.C. lost his mother at the young age of 3.
