Smith, Lanny Age 74, of Mounds View, MN, passed from this life Sat., Oct. 19, 2013, of Parkinson's disease. Survived by his wife, Karin; daughters, Katrin Tilson and Mary Henry; grandchildren, Brian and Alex Tilson. Lanny was preceded in death by his brothers, Vernon and Burton. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 23rd 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm, at Moe's Restaurant, 2400 Hwy 10, Mounds View, MN. Everyone is welcome to attend. Lanny's cremated remains will be placed in the near future at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Mpls with a plaque denoting his military service and honors as a veteran of the Cold War in Berlin, Germany, and Desert Storm, having been awarded a Bronze Star for his meritorious action.

Karin, I'll always remember Lanny's steadfast friendship in high school and the many good times we had with you and Lanny. I hope you are doing well.

I think of him often, someday we will me again hopefully it will be many year away!

I so sorry for your loss, Lanny was a very close friend,we lost contact while he was in Germany but still remember the good times we had. I was so happy that Oggie Blegen and were able to see him and visit with him recently. He still had that good memory and wit that I remember! God's greastest gift to us is our memories of Lanny.
