Correction to my earlier comments: I was not Edward George Jr.'s aunt; we were first cousins. His mother and my father were sister and brother. --- Julia Oliver, Montgomery, Alabama
March 25, 2014
I am one of Ed's two Alabama aunts. My name is Julia Parker Oliver; I am a writer in Montgomery, Alabama. My sister, Christine Parker Pursell, was named for Ed's mother, who was our aunt. The Parkers were a prominent central Alabama family. My father, who was Ed's uncle, was mayor of Sylacauga. Ed's grandfather had been the town's first railroad station agent in the late 1900s.

Ed George was the son of my great aunt (the sister of my grandfather). Unfortunately, I never had the pleasure of meeting him. I have heard so many nice things about him and his family through the years. I wish the family the very best and would love to connect.

I am sorry to hear about Ed's passing. I had the pleasure to grow up around some of the cases that Ed and my grandfather, Albert C.S. Ramsey, handled in the 1970s and 1980s, and Ed gave me useful advice at the beginning of my own career as a lawyer--there's always a place for good lawyers. He will be missed.
