I was privildged to work with David while serving as as staff engineer on the ACRS. David was the toughest boss you could work for but was honest, fair and thoroughly dedicated to nuclear power plant safety. He will be missed by all who strive to ensure safe regulation of commerical nuclear power plants.
Sorry to hear about your loss. I know this time must be hard for you; if you need anything, let me know. You are in my thoughts.
He always looked our for his family and other people first, for himself he never asked very much. He set an example that the rest of us can try to attain. He gave sage advice and supported the rest of the family in whatever our endeavours were. My words seem so paltry and small compared to the man...he did so much for so many people, including those who never knew his name, whom he protected either through his defense work, or through his work on nuclear safety. Chernobyl never happened HERE because of David Okrent and a few physicists like him. More later his son Neil
My dear friend Neil,
My deepest sympathy with the lost of your father. My prayers are for him.
To the Okrent Family: You have my deepest sympathy for your loss. Even though I did not know your father, it is obvious that he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. You should feel such pride in his brilliant professional contributions and his being honored and recognized for his stand for nuclear reactor safety.
Dad, I love you. May you rest in peace. I'm so proud of you and miss you so much. You will always be in my heart.
Dad I miss you so much! You were a wonderful father and grandfather to us and you will alway be in our hearts. Nina (and family)
