A gracious and respectable person whose work has done so much to bring so much joy to many of us in these troubled times hard to deal with (2 Tim 3:1). Perhaps more will continue to have positive experiences from a wonderful work that has an impactful contribution to life and its anxieties.
With deepest sympathy to the family during your time of grief. Psalms 46:1 says " God is for us a refuge and strength. A help readily to be found during difficult times. May God provide you with peace and comfort to endure the days ahead
I first met Helen after returning to the p.r. field at Samantha Drake, following the birth of my first son. Prior to that, I had been p.r. director for Revlon. Well, dear, darling, Helen. well-known for counting her pennies, got wind of the fact that one of my clients was Nina Ricci and as an avid fan of their sunglasses, called me to request a pair. As we were also located on West 57th, I was over their faster than the Tazmanian Devil, with not just one - but four pairs for my longtime idol - along with the full line of La Praire, which I also represented at the time.
Helen came to the reception desk to pick them up personally, which, naturally, thrilled me beyond belief, and went on to write me one of her heartfelt signature notes of thanks. I immediately responded, as did she in turn and told me that she was going to put my note into her memory book; something she did very infrequently.
Well, the boost of confidence I received from Helen that day, propelled me to write my first book which she honored with a 2-page excerpt in the 25th anniversary of Cosmo. We did keep in touch over the years, but not frequently enough. I only wish she knew (and hopefully she now does from on high) not only what a difference she made in my life; but in the lives of oh-so-many others. She never lost the common touch and yet, could easily dine with presidents and kings.
I loved Helen Gurley Brown. She changed and infused my life with the sort of support one could only wish for in their fondest dreams and I shall miss her presence on this earth desperately.
Clearly, it was her time and she is now - slim and beautiful as ever with her dear David by her side - doing that which she did like no one else here on earth...giving every little mouseburger with wings the supreme confidence to fly higher than she ever could have imagined; and, in so doing, heaven has been gifted with the quintessential voice telling all the angels, "It's never too late..."
Love you more, Helen,
Jane Maclean Craig

As an Black Women growing up in the 70'x & 80's I admit there were not a lot of choices for us, but I always felt you were not color bound, it was like you were just talking to women in general. God Bless and Keep You.
I spent many hours reading Cosmo when I was young and they made a difference in my life. Thank you HGB for sharing your lifestyle insights!
Rest in Peace HGB, you are one amazing young lady. I will miss seeing you make your entrance into the Hearst Tower each morning so lovely dressed and of course your fishnet stocking. A Great Loss but left a Great LEGACY.
You were an inspiration to a lot of women !
And they love you for it !
To her family and friends, my sincere sympathy for your loss. No matter how many years we have with someone we love, it is never enough. She was a mighty fine woman! Rest in Peace, Helen
To the the family of Helen Gurley Brown - May God give you peace and comfort through his word and the Lord Jesus Christ during this time of sorrow, I know that she will be missed by many.
Sincere condolences to Helen's family and friends. I enjoyed her work for many years and she was an inspiration to many women. She was ahead of her time, I believe.
I have several bright memories of Helen. She was all the things that morph in an obit...and more.
Each year "Cosmopolitan's" sales staff hosted thirty promotional lunches at the "21 Club" for advertising agencies and/or advertisers. Helen was the draw.
On one special occasion, in front of ten of the largest New York advertising agency CEO's, Presidents and COO's, Helen was gracious, sincere, affable and mesmerizing. I'm confident that all those heavy hitters went home to their wives and told them about having lunch with THE Helen Gurley Brown. (She was as amicable when meeting a junior media planner.)
Following the lunch Helen wanted to walk back to the office and I escorted her. I remember her diminutive form ensconced in a full length fur confidently striding up 5th Avenue...with me in tow. Passerby's recognized her. Helen was a publishing force, yet comfortable in her celebrity.
About six years later I wrote to Helen when I was practicing chiropractic. Even though she was the Editor and I in sales, I found that I connected with her in some inexplicable way. I didn't get a chance to say goodbye to her when I left "Cosmo".
I wanted Helen to know that I appreciated working for "Cosmo" and what I was now doing. I never expected a response. But I received one have. As usual her words were kind and encouraging.
Helen Gurley Brown was an extraordinary person.

I met you back in 1986 at the Universal Sheraton Hotel for the Miss Hollywood International pageant where I MC'd the event.
You were such a lovely lady! May GOD be with your family and loved ones as you have passed on. Blessings and comfort to you all.
Helen Gurley Brown understood millions of women who liked men too much to be strident feminists, and liked life too much to be housewives. Obviously, she was a single girl's best friend and got many of us through a lonely night with her unflagging optimism and flirty attitude. While some people didn't take her seriously, her millions of readers certainly did. She gave us all something to aspire to and taught us to create an exciting life and not settle for whatever life handed you. She lived her philosophy, and that's why it rang true. I hope she is reunited with her beloved David and is at peace.
The Maccioni family of Le Cirque would like to express our deepest condolences on the death of Ms. Brown. We were deeply saddened to hear the news and our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time. She will be dearly missed.
I met you once at a Library Conference in NYC, and listened to you speak. You were gracious, determined, witty and intelligent. I was so impressed and awestruck. Thank you for your contributions to this world we live in.
Rest in Peace Ms. Brown- You have taught so many so much. I have always followed your cold water face washing practices. The love story with your husband is an absolute dream. Thank you for your innovation and sound advice.
She sure was and still is a legend. Her marriage to David Brown was a real love story, and together, they were a dream team. I don't think we will ever see a magazine become what Cosmo did under anyone like Helen. She was always articulate in an interview, and who could have ever know by that, that her upbringing was of a child who had nothing, but a brain and determination for success in life. Rest in peace great and fine lady of my time, for there shall never be another one like you!!
It was an honor to interview you when you went to Houston a while back.
I learned a lot from Ms Brown; she molded me into a true Cosmo-Girl of
the 80's. Thank you so much.
Helen: Thanks for making a difference, year after year after year.
I'm a tough girl cause of you..
Farewell Helen you were an inspiration to all us mouseburgers everywhere and helped us to change our lives.Thank you
Rest in Peace and thank you.
To us you were a gem and to my a pearl shall you remain. Rest in peace
God bless the family of Helen Gurley Brown and give them peace, comfort and strength during the coming days ahead.
So sorry for your loss.
Praying for you in Alabama.
You were always my hero and inspiration.
Thank you for being a part of my life.
My prayers & thoughts are with the family & friends of the great lady, Helen Gurley Brown. "Cosmo" magazine was practically my bible in the 60's & 70's. Ms. Gurley Brown helped to educate & liberate a generation of women. She is a hero to many women of my generation & will be missed.
Thank you Ms. Brown, for living your life to the fullest and setting the example for us "women"... to enjoy sex in life, whether reading about in Cosmo or enjoying it:) May you have a special place in heaven to continue conducting business as usual. Hats off to you, Ms. Brown!!! Rest in Peace.
Whoa...... What a Woman , what a Life ! I want to growup and be like you , Helen G !!!
Thank you for taking the word "sex" and making it into a word to be celebrated rather than a "dirty" word. Thank you for all you did in behalf of women everywhere. May you rest in peace. My deepest sympathy to your family.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
Mrs. Brown's magazine was a definite "must read" for my friends and I. Thank you for sharing.
Always loved her advice and her cassette recordings on love. She was so modern and with it. A delight to read and listen to. She will be missed.
Your book, Having It All, changed my life, encouraging me to follow my dreams.
With all my thanks, RIP, Mrs. Brown.
Mrs. Brown wrote "Helen Gurley Brown's Single Girl's Cookbook," which was the first cookbook I ever bought back in the early '70's. It is filled with advice on dating, it's funny and it has wonderful recipes. Every time I look at it, I will think of her and smile. Thank you for leading the way in modernizing the role of women. You will be missed. My deepest sympathy to the family and friends of this wonderful woman.
Thank you for sharing a part of your life with us.
A remarkable woman. May God strengthen the family to endure during this difficult time.
God Bless you Helen, your magazine was in our home growing up. What a beautiful woman you are!
Thank you, Helen, for all you did to pave the way for me and my baby boomer girlfriends....life is so much sweeter (and fairer!) because of you....to Helen's family and dear friends, know that Helen's life was so much richer because of you....
Thank you for what you did for women. You certainly changed my life.
An amazing and gutsy woman who had the vision and tenacity to say what she believed and wasn't afraid of any backlash! A wonderful role model for women of my, and any following generation to be "more" as well as not being afraid to who they are! God rest her soul...Helen Gurley Brown will always be relevant!
I had the extraordinary privilege to have met Ms. Brown when I worked for her boss at Hearst. Her appearance at our office was always a highlight of my day, as she always exuded an air of confidence and optimism that was infectious. I felt so honored when she included me on her office Christmas list!
Thanks for encouraging American women to set goals that we had previously never imagined for ourselves. Thanks for validating that women have as much right to sexual self-determination as the guys, but can still be ladies.
There is no greater achievement in life than to have left this world a little better than you found it.
Thank you Helen Gurley Brown - you made my world better.
She definitely proved the power of ONE!!!
May she rest in peace.
Thanks for everthing, Helen. You were the "Auntie Mame" to the women of my generation. You opened doors, windows, and avenues of thought we never knew existed.
May God have mercy on her soul.
We have a wonderful angel to watch over us. Seventeen and Cosmo were my favorite magazines growing up. You'll be greatly missed! Sending prayers your way!!

My heart goes out to the Brown family. My Mom was afraid of 'the talk', but Ms. Brown was not. That meant alot to a girl of the 80's to have the answers she needed before I knew what the questions should be. My prayers are with her family and friends during their time of sorrow.
My condolences for a wonderful lady who could ask the hush hush questions and let us choose from a multiple choice answer. Helen was divine.
I WAS ALWAYS SO IMPRESSED BY HER.
To all of us that will mourn this woman, we can take comfort in the fact she taught us many things! Being a Christian today some things I cannot now go along with, BUT I will always treasure the wisdom I learned from her! When she taught us women, never go anywhere without taking 3-4 hours of work with you, or reading or something, in case you are in a situation you have to wait for hours. I have embraced that fact ever since she taught me it, and have been blessed many times by it. God Bless you Helen, and may you rest in peace!
Dearest bereaved family & friends,
My thoughts are with you at this time. You knew her best. This woman changed our world, forever. She contributed so much to change and affect many generations to be more open minded and share views to raise courage and awareness that has passed on to so many. She had a great life and will missed by millions & remember with kind thoughts. Shalom Linda

Lovely woman gone home to God.
I was in the ad agency business in Chicago for many years and still remember a luncheon Helen hosted at the best French restaurant at that time, Chez Paul, when she was the publisher of Cosmo. She obviously wanted us to buy advertising pages in her book, but, because of her magnetic personality, charisma, and charm, she didn't have to sell us on the benefits of her magazine. She was Cosmo. Still remember this lunch many years later just because of her.
A wonder and Grand Lady Rest in Peace I love your magazine
hELEN CHANGED MY LIFE AS A WOMAN AND MEN HATED THAT! i LOVED EVERY ARTICLE I READ. YOU ALWAYS HAVE GIVEN WOMEN ENCOURAGEMENT TO BE MORE THAN A MAID TO A MAN AND A SEXUAL DEPOSITORY.
