I first met Lee when I joined CB in November of 1968. He sat at the back of the 'Tea House' and was a legend even then. I admired Lee's real estate knowledge, his humor, his ability to teach & his success in many related fields..family, friends & business. I last spoke to Lee at Don Koll's memorial. He was and is an inspiration to so many (including me).
Bless him and his family! He will be missed.
There was only ONE Lee Sammis!!
I'm so sorry for your loss. My sincere condolences to you and your family.
Beverly and I just ran into your dad about 6-8 months ago, and true to form, he was charming, a little gruff, and forever endearing. What a guy. You were blessed to have him, and heaven will open those gates wide to receive him. Love and prayers to all of you.
May you find peace and comfort during this sad time…Psalms 25:16,17
I had the pleasure of working for him in his Culpeper, Va office. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family - I know he will be dearly missed by many.

Amazing pictures, amazing family! He left a legacy beyond words...enjoy and cherish the memories. God Bless
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I worked for Lee right out of college in McLean and Culpeper, VA. Just the thought of him again makes me smile. The pictures here are absolutely fabulous. I know so many people will have great stories and great memories to help the family get through this hard time. Fondest regards, Julie Liss
Sending hugs and love to the Sammis Girls....thinking about our parents in heaven and what fun they must be up to :)
I loved looking at the pictures of your dad, mom and family. Thank you for sharing. Lee was one of the good ones and will be missed by all. KC Parker Redmond
You have no idea what a positive impact you have had on so many of our lives.
You encouraged me, a young (at the time) real estate novice to join you in setting up Sammis Northeast.....
We spent so much time together, not just strategizing, but implementing your vision for a new way of developing in the Northeast and particularly Northern New Jersey.
Your willingness to launch Sammis Company into a completly new market was a bold testament to who you are and your amazing legacy.....
We looked at land until 11PM at night....We met with Mayors and banks and brokers to prepare for our investment meetings in Boston with Joe O'Connor and his investment committee at Copley......
Our team, led by you, broke every record for successful development of suburban Office Campuses in New Jersey history.....
I am honored to have been your junior partner in all that we accomplished.....
Whatever I have achieved in this business I owe to you as my mentor and friend....You shaped me and guided me with enthusiasm and kindness.....and I thank you and already miss you, more than will ever realize.
Joan, and the entire Sammis family, thank you for allowing me to share with you, so much of Lee's time and passion........
I love you all and I am honored and blessed to have known Lee and all of you ......
I am forever greatful.
Thank you, Lee, for welcoming a skinny little college student into your family so many years ago and making me a part of it. Thank you for allowing the endless sleepovers, family trips, and holidays. You and Joan always made me feel special and I appreciate that so much! To this day I remember a trip to Catalina when we all sang silly camp songs and just had a great time! Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to be a part of important events in my life and the love you and Joan shared with me. You will be so missed, but I am comforted in knowing that you are together once again with one of the greatest women I have ever known, your beloved Joannie! It's with a heavy heart I say goodbye.
Lee Sammis was the most voracious "early adopter" of new consumer technology I've ever met. He seemed to have an insatiable curiosity for new cameras and other electronic devices. Whether or not he ever actually used them I don't know...but he certainly seemed to always be on the prowl. I think this was a reflection of his innate curiosity.
Dad: You were a warrior and taught us so many things. I envision you hanging out with mom up there on the Shazam in warm waters. I wish you peace and I love you. Gina
