Thank you for He-Man, Jason of Star Command and Zorro. Children's show from 80's were really cool thanks to You and Your friends. Young people could learn about things which are necessary in life - friendship, devotion, overcoming weaknesses. There was no violence nor nasty behaviour. I wish all children's programs will be like Filmation's productions.
It was nice to watch these with my parents and sister. They were so positive and gave us so much joy.
Rest in peace, Lou. I hope God will reward You your hard work - Work of making childern's television in very cruel world.

Not only were his shows exciting, and amusing, but they taught us things we would not have learned any other way. Thank you Lou Scheimer for helping us learn to be both good and brave.

October 26, 2013
I never met him, but by all accounts, he was a wonderful man. He positively influenced so many of us. Not only did he create wonderful cartoons, but he tried to instill good morals and values in children, something that is woefully lacking in children's products today. He cared about his employees, cared about keeping people working, and cared about the youth of the world. Lou's MotU universe was a huge part of my childhood and I continue to thoroughly enjoy it today.

Thank you for everything, Lou. Your influence will never be forgotten.
October 26, 2013
Thank you Lou for many many days as a little boy being anxious to get home or wake up early to watch He-man. And then getting my sister into She-Ra. My best friend and I meet thru He-man. I have many positive memories in some way or another related to the Flimation cartoon or toys. I also enjoyed many other cartoons made thru Flimation, but predominantly MOTU and POP.

Thank you Lou, Till next time.
October 26, 2013
Thanks for giving us the He-Man and She-Ra cartoons!
You enriched our childhood and gave us very worthy moral lessons with your shows.
I believe I became a better person following along He-Man's advice - And I will also forward this to my kids, when we're watching your cartoons together.

Thank you for everything!
October 26, 2013
It is quite sad when a legend dies. A legend is a hero that impacts the world in a positive manner. Lou Scheimer is such a legend that taught the children in the 1980's moral values and sensitivity to all. In his series of Masters of the Universe, Lou is a role model for all. He will be missed for his teaching the children.
October 26, 2013

October 26, 2013
Dear family and friends of Mr. Scheimer:

My most sincere condolences. I wish you all strength and courage in this difficult moment. Mr. Scheimer's legacy will continue to live on. Remember that many, many children have fond memories of his projects, cartoons, and work. I will never forget the impact of Flash Gordon, and He-Man and She-Ra on my life!
October 26, 2013
As a child, I grew up in an extremely abusive and volatile family. We were also very poor farmers, so I was forced to work from sun up to sun down from the time I was 5 years old (except while in school) in order to help support my family. I didn't have the luxury of owning toys and rarely had time to watch cartoons. BUT there were a few instances when it was raining too hard for us to work outside on the farm, so during those handful of times I turned on the tv and watched He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Throughout my entire childhood I never saw more than 4-5 episodes, but those few instances still stick with me today.

While watching He-man, I felt comfort and shelter during my difficult childhood. I also learned the difference between good and bad, right and wrong, love and hate...and I have Lou to thank for that!

So, I just want to say THANKS LOU for all you have done for all of us. You will be missed, but never forgotten. You live on within us.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Scheimer family.

Rest in Peace Lou.

"Remember, it's today that counts. So make it the best day possible." ~He-Man

Now Lou Scheimer has joined Walt Disney among the greatest American animation makers ever. Thank you for everything.
October 26, 2013
Farewell Mr Scheimer, and thank you so much!! My son will grow up with your values.
October 26, 2013
My thanks and condolences to the whole Scheimer family. Masters of the Universe helped me connect with my peers and be less shy, and, more importantly, provided an easy common ground for me to help some of my very, very bullied grade school classmates to connect with me and others, and otherwise relax in a world of imaginative play time.I really, truly, believe that the fun and creative world Lou established might've saved some childrens' lives, and for that I will be forever grateful to your whole family for making that possible. For all those kids that were bullied that had a chance to escape for a while into a safe, fantastic world, I raise a sword to you Lou.
October 26, 2013
Thank you to you and your family for all the amazing stories.
October 26, 2013
You made my childhood, as with many others worth more than remembering. We cherish it for the rich content and constant innovation when it comes to cartoons we've all grown to love and be proud of. Thanks to you. May you continue to shine your brilliance even in the afterlife...
October 25, 2013

Your eye for talent, both writing and animation work continue on through the masters Bruce Tim, Paul Dini, Tom Sito etc etc. You were right to pick these guys. They carry on your legacy as does your family and through fans and geeks like myself.

October 25, 2013
My sincerest thanks and appreciation to Lou Scheimer (and his family). I am not being hyperbolic when I say that I wouldn't be the person I am today without the exposure I received early on to the fantastical words created by Lou and Filmation. Not only did I grow to have an almost limitless imagination, but I also have a fine appreciation for good storytelling and good values as a result of Mr Scheimer's works. Thank you for everything--you will be sorely missed, and the world could use millions more like you!
October 25, 2013
Like many children of the 80's, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe was a huge part of growing up. Every day for show and tell, kids were bringing in nothing but He-Man toys. It got to the point where our teachers asked us to stop and bring something different. We couldn't help it. We watched, played and dreamed Masters of the Universe.

Thirty years later, He-Man is still apart of my life as both a collector and avid fan. For that, I just want to say thanks, Lou. Thanks for your contribution to Filmation and for helping put out good quality cartoons with valuable messages.
October 25, 2013

October 25, 2013
Filmation Cartoons were the toons of my childhood. And among those, Blackstar fired my young imagination, and He-Man became integral to my self as a person. The lessons these cartoons always taught me and the knowledge that someone cared enough to speak to me directly always stayed with me. Even as a small child I knew I was lucky for this person I was not even aware of until later in life was looking out in whatever way he could, and helped shape my young mind in a thoughtful and kind way. Plus those toons were rad. So glad you were so responsible for so many things about my life, and I never even met you. Good sir, you are loved.
October 25, 2013
The only thing to say is THANK YOU but even that doesn't seem to say it. I still watch He-Man and now share it with my kids. My 3yr old will come up and say He-Man almost every day, so we will get out a He-Man toy and put in a dvd and watch He-Man and we LOVE it. So Thank You seems right but not enough. GOD bless you LOU and your family.

Lou Scheimer was truly one of my heroes. He brought my childhood to life with his magic and vision through Filmation cartoons like He-Man and She-Ra that came on my television each afternoon. The care and thought gone in to each episode Filmation produced was a true legacy to be proud of. It really reached and touched the viewers. He treated the fans like family and I know the times I interacted with Lou will always be cherished memories. He will be missed but never forgotten; he will always have the power.

What an amazing man and how fortunate his family and friends were to have shared time with him. I could not stop reading Mr. Scheimer's accomplishments and the wonderful legacy he left for all to enjoy. His son and daughter should be so proud to have had the good fortune of him being their father.
October 20, 2013
I posted this on facebook and I feel it should be posted here. Erika if you're reading this we met in 2011 at Power Con where I told you the story about how Lou and all the employees helped to save me from committing suicide in my earlier years after being bullied. Anyways here is what I wrote after learning of Lou's death:

There's a lot of words going through my head and heart. And I know I am not the only one. Some people are describing themselves as gutted, others deeply saddened and even more using the phrase "Good Journey". Either way we are all mourning a loss. A gentleman that is so dear to so many people I am proud to call friend. And it's one of those times, I wish we could all be together to comfort each other. We've lost a man that gave us memories of earlier days when our biggest concern was what to have for breakfast as we watched our heroes go on another adventure. A man I personally never got to meet but a man who influenced my life in a way a father should. His name was Lou Scheimer. He was, in part, responsible for the creation of FILMation Studios who brought generations works like The Secrets of Isis, Shazam, Bravestarr and one of the most well known cartoons from the 1980s, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and She-Ra Princess of Power.

I can't speak of any personal experiences with Lou. I never got that chance. Though, I'd be lying if I didn't play out that chance meeting in my head numerous times. I'd walk up to him and shake his hand and tell him "Thank you." He'd look confused for a moment and then I would explain myself. I would tell him that my parents separated when I was young and He-Man became a father figure to me teaching me lessons about life that I should have been taught by someone that should have been in my life. And that later He-Man and She-Ra would save me from myself in a time when I felt there was no going on.

As time passed and I got older, I learned about Lou. I had always seen Lou's name on many of the cartoons I watched but I knew nothing of what he did. However with the coming of the BCI DVDs I got my chance to learn about the man. His voice was that of King Randor's as well as many others and as I finally got my chance to watch He-Man and She-Ra in its entirety I began to notice his voice all over the place. He even voiced Swift Wind, one of my childhood favorite characters. I watched the documentaries and the like going "Huh, so that's Lou. He seems like a nice guy."

And from what I've learned from fans that met him and the people he worked for, he was a nice guy. In fact nice guy is not even good enough to describe him. He was a wonderful man. He was able to remember fans he had the chance to meet even though he couldn't remember some of the voices he did in He-Man and She-Ra. Lou also did other things, he gave people chances that would allow them to become pop culture icons like Paul Dini and Bruce Timm. He hired people without looking at gender such as Gwen Wetzler who had been fired from FILMation before. And most importantly, he kept animation here in the United States. He created the syndicated cartoon. He pushed the boundaries of cartoons by creating cartoons of quality and also gave us quantity in the creation of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe being the first cartoon based on a toyline. The series created a world full of wonder to so many of us that we still revere in our hearts. And then it continued with the creation of He-Man's twin sister She-Ra, Princess of Power. She-Ra told girls and gay boys that it was okay to be who you are, you can change the world with the gifts you have. And it had a flying unicorn with rainbow hair. Now, that was EPIC! And in fact Lou himself was epic for what he did.

So, my fellow He-fans and She-Ravers we may be grieving tonight and frankly, we are entitled. However let us not loose sight of the great gift Lou gave us: the memories he has brought us, the friends he has brought together and the reminder that we have the power.

I am so sorry for your loss. Us He-Man and She-Ra fans mourn with you.
