Eleanor,
I have been teaching health for 42 years and so remember the great times when I met and talked to you at the CASHE conferences. I especially remember chatting with you at the Lake Arrowhead conference with Ric Loya, Steve Sroka, Mike Smith and my wife Maria Matza. You were so dedicated then even at age 90 to teach and help the kids in Sylmar. At the time you were about 91 and looking for a nice boyfriend. I tried to find a date for you but could not find anyone deserving enough!
You spoke of your students with such love and respect and helped guide them to make good decisions, not only about health, but about life. I plan on living to at least 100 and hope to continue teaching just like you. You will always be a great inspiration for me. The world now is just a little different without Eleanor one of the greatest teachers of all time.
Much love and admiration,
Nathan Matza, Health Teacher, California Association of School Health Educators
