I'm so sorry we lost Richard. He was our friend and added joy to our lives. We'll always have China. Take care of yourself, Annette.

I remember Dick talking about either him or his wife teaching an English class at the ND undergraduate level and being admonished by someone for giving star runner Nick Eddy a failing grade! His stories about Jack Webb and Dragnet and Webb's wife Julie London were certainly more fascinating than the experiences most of us 21-24 year olds had in our short lives to date.

I have never forgotten the morning I was standing in the snack bar in the basement of the Law School talking to Richard before class. With considerable prodding and star struck reverence I learned of his "flying the hump" in WW2 and helping to write the script for the "Louis Nizer Story" movie. To say I was impressed would be a complete understatement. RIP, Richard.

Dick was one of the most interesting guys in our class. A wise man, who we looked to as kids, when we were kids. Dick told me he got interested in the law while writing scripts for the Jack Webb Dragnet series. Nothing but the facts, Mam, just the facts. He's had a truly remarkable life. Clearly, Dick lived a long and productive life and did a lot of good. RIP, indeed.

You're a great man and a great neighbor at the Marina City Club. I will never forget our many conversations in our condos and in the Club dining room for as long as I live. Please RIP.
