I met David on a blind date when I was 15 or 16. He amused me from the get-go. When he called to set up the date he said we needed to agree that if either of us wasn't impressed with the other it wasn't going to proceed. I lived with my Dad and I always throught David came over to see him more than me. They were an odd couple but never tired of one another's company. We used to drive around, get ice cream, listen to records and often pick up his mother, Clara, from her swing shift job on Terminal Island. It was a simple and sweet friendship. We somehow managed to keep in touch over a half century and I treasure that friendship more than words can say. I miss you David Alan Bauer and, as my first love, you set the bar awfully high. Quite a guy.

I worked with Davy in the Robbery Div. @ LBPD many years ago and he was the nicest, most caring man there. He had a personality that was larger than life and could make you laugh out loud within seconds. I am so sad to hear of his passing; RIP, you lovely man.

Davey: It was an honor to work under your supervision. Both of us thought you were a great person and sergeant. You were always in our corner when others broke and ran. I'm very sad you're gone. Rest in peace.
