Condolences to the Allen family. Bob and I were great friends at Millikan and often walked to school together.
I have thought of him often.
I just found out about Bob from PeeWee, Please accept our heartfelt sympathies to you , your kids and your entire family. Bob was such an "up" guy, always full of life and smiles, kind of reminded me of your Dad :) Take care and love to all, Mary Ann and Steve Hile
Semper Fi Captain Bob, or "Captain Al, the troopies pal" as Bob would say. Our cherished 27 year friendship can never be forgotten. We shared many lunches, many stories and a few tears over the years. I love you Bob. I'll miss our 4 hour tax interviews!
Bob Allen (Marine, proctor and friend.) was a special friend to me. I've known him since the 70's. The most important attribute that Bob had is he loved Jesus and it overflowed on everyone around him. After I retired from LAPD I was coaching SC freshman football. Bob was a proctor at the high school and he would drive up in his cart to say high or give me a ride. He was always sharing his love and concern for the students at SC High. Then there was the other time he would be driving his FED EX truck and see me and make it a point to stop and talk to me.
He loved his family and shared about his family with me. I just saw him and Carol at Rite Aide a month or so ago and he never mentioned any health problems but just talked about joy and life. I will miss you brother and see you in Heaven where there will be no sorrow or pain. Thanks for being a special friend in my life. My prayers are with you Carol and the family. Steve Haberfield
Blessings to the Allen family. I attended school with Bob from
Carver through LBCC. He was always positive with a great smile.
My prayers go out to the Allen family. I knew Bob at Millikan and even then he was admired for his faith and character. My deepest sympathy.
I always looked to Bob as an example of a Christian man and father. He was a great friend. Carol my deepest sympathy and prayers for you and the entire family.
Deepest sympathies to the the Allen family. Bob was as fine a person that you could know.
Bob was such a treat. Off and on I would see him in SJC where we both have lived for over 25 years. Invariably, we would have a chance meeting and then begin the high school sports conversation. Being from that other school(Poly)we bantered back and forth about Townsend, Donatoni, Barney and Buster and then two of my best friends---Paul deMetropolis and Randy Watson. Seemed like Bob either knew or saw or heard something about everyone. An hour or so and we would be done--usually finishing off with John Herbold and Bob Meyers. Bob could have gone on forever. He loved those days and guys.
Thoughts and prayers for Carol. We all will miss him.
My deepest sympathy for you and your family at this time. I loved Bob as friend always showed Christ's love , he never whined . He made the best out of every situation. He will be missed terribly by my family.
Ahhhh Bob, didn't get to see you much but going to miss you. You made the world a better place my friend. I'm saddened but I know where your going to be, hope to see you there. All the best, Scott
Dear Carol & family,
I am so sorry to hear about Bob's passing. Bob was a dear friend from our Milliken and LBCC days. When I think of Bob I remember his wit, energy, intelligence, his sense of humor, and his smile. I too remember the classes we had at Milliken especially Mr. Glover's Spanish class. Bob was a generous, kind and thoughtful soul to who ever crossed his path. Carol you and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers this Saturday. Again, my deepest sympathies and condolences.
Bob, my dear friend, rest in peace. You will never be forgotten.
Napa Valley, California
Thank you for advising me of Bob's passing. We were true shipmates from the USS SARATOGA days (40 years ago) and we managed to keep in touch with one another ever since. I was able to join the two of you on the occasion of your wedding and Bob's 5oth Birthday and Bob attended my 5oth Birthday. I always looked forward to your visits in Coronado when you took the time to drop by and see me at work. It is so sad for Bob to leave this world even before his father. I am sure Bob must have been his jovial self to the end. If I can ever be of assistance please don't hesitate to call and by all means keep in touch as you are a shipmate by marriage.
Love and prayers,
Tom Newport LCdR-RET
Sincere condolences to Bob's family from all his U.S.S. Saratoga shipmates.
Bob Allen was a high energy, athletic and very intelligent person. Bob could tell a story or two and make anyone laugh.
My deepest felt condolences to his family and friends he left behind...
I worked with you at FedEx for many years. You always had an off the wall or funny story to tell. We were the early birds, delivering the first wave in the early hours. You always showed up in good spirits and ready to go. If I could bottle your energy ...I would! Your positive and energetic nature was contagious.
I will never forget the encouragement you gave me during Chris' deployment to Iraq. Weeks would go by with no word from him and I'd start to panic... right there in the middle of our FedEx sort. A Marine yourself, you took the time to explain to me how the mail system worked in the military and how hard it was to contact loved ones during war time. I can't thank you enough. You have been good friend Bob and I will always be known to you as, "Diesels Mom", its is a nickname I am honored to have. Thank you for making every morning a little brighter.
My Condolences to the Family. During this time of sorrow, may you find peace and comfort in God's promise found at John 6:40
I had the pleasure of working with Bob at Fed Ex and what a great, kind, and soul hearted man he was! Loved all the stories he would tell as we worked together during the morning sort. Bob, you lived such s beautiful life and held so much love for your family in your heart, as I could see it in your eyes when you spoke of each one of them! You will truely be missed by all those that worked with you at Fed Ex. My prayers go out to your family at this time! RIP my dear sweet friend!
Aloha Bob, May your journey to the Light be filled with peace, joy and delight. Blessings to your family and all who you touched in your life. You were my first kiss (in 6th grade), really set the bar high! Such a good, kind man. Rest in Peace!
Dear Carol and Family, I am so sorry to hear about Bob's passing..I know you are all thankful that he is out of suffering and in the Presence of His Lord..God give you His grace and comfort in your time of hurting..Love, Diane Levine Pepka
Bob was one of the kindest people I had known while working at FedEx. It was always a pleasure running into him usually in the morning while we were all preparing to head out for the day. He always had a smile on his face and more energy that most of his younger fellow employees. I really enjoyed Bob's stories. He lived a lot, enjoyed life and always looked positively at things. Bob showed interest in my family, children and their sports and we shared stories about our kids. He was so proud of his children and his entire family. I am so happy to have worked with Bob and I got to know him. He was a really great person and I will sincerely miss him. My thought and prayers are with his family.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
What a beautiful life! Thank you for sharing that with us. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time of sadness and loss.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
So sad to hear this news, but rejoicing that our dear friend is in the presence of the Lord. Friends from childhood, I remember Bob fondly. Condolences to Bob's family.
I went to Millikan HS and I liked Bob Allen a lot as a friend. We played football together and as a senior he was outstanding, one of the top receivers in our League. I left Long Beach after one and a half years at Long Beach City College. I have only been in Long Beach a few times over the last 45 + years. A couple years ago Denny Moulton and I attended an event in Long Beach and I saw Bob and spent about 5 hours with him. I had a GREAT time learning about what Bob had done over these years and he talked to me a lot about his family. It was so fun for me to catch up with Bob and to talk about our senior year in football at Millikan. My memory of Bob is that he was a high energy guy, a class human being, a loyal friend and a very good baseball player and in my eyes, a great receiver in football. I was blessed to spend that time with Bob along with Denny. Two guys that I like, respect and have wonderful memories of our times together. I am sorry I cannot make the Memorial Service, but I emailed Carol and told her that on Saturday, I will be thinking of Bob Allen the entire day. Bob - RIP!!!!!
To Carol and family and to Roy and family all our sympathy at this really tough time. We are praying for strength for you all. Nancy and Rich and family
May Your Family Find Comfort During This Difficult Time. Matt. 11:28-30…Come to me, all YOU who are toiling and loaded down, and I will refresh YOU. Jesus offers to help us pull our load! We do not have to do it in our own strength. With My Deepest Sympathy,
Sorry for your loss Chrissie. While I didn't know your brother Bob, he was obviously a good man.
My condolences to the family. I went to school with Bob from Carver all the way to Millikan. Even though I hadn't seen him in decades I will always remember him as being kind to those around him. I'm sure he will be missed by all who crossed his path during his lifetime. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
Bob was a classmate at Marshall and Milliken. He was a great example of leadership in school. And a friend in our school years. My condolences to the family. In loving memory of a wonderful person.
Bob Allen - a most memorable 6th grade student from my first year of teaching - scholarly, gentlemanly, and widely admired by classmates.
I am so sorry that you lost your precious father.
I remeber Bob as friendly, happy, and one of the guys on the team. Always a friend. Condolances to the family. RIP. From an old MIllikan friend.
Regards, Doug Hadnot
Each time our paths have crossed over the years, it always seemed that it was just yesterday that we had seen each other. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers forever.
Bob has always been one of my dearest friends all the way from Kindergarten through LBCC. Although we have drifted apart over the years, I know that he would be there if I needed him. Rest in Peace Old Friend.
My sincere condolences and prayers go to my old classmate from Carver, Marshall, and Millikan. May you all be comforted in the understanding that he has lived a good life and left a legacy of love, family, and good memories for so many. So sorry for your loss.
Bob, I will miss you. I remember the good times we had at Millikan High for 3 straight years of Mr. Glover's Spanish class. You were very quick as a back on the football team and loved baseball with Coach Meyers. 20 years later when we compared our military careers, you in the Marines and I in the Air Force, we both realized how much alike we were. I am thankful that you are a born-again Christian and that we will see each other again in that great quad in the sky. Blessings on your family as they work their way through the stages of grieving.
Dear Bob, I remember you well from our early days together in elementary and junior high school. You and I, and Jim Hennessy, and others could really play some baseball! Actually, it was all sports that we were so good at....such very fond memories! I hadn't seen Bob for over 50+ years, although he will live on in my own experience as long as I'm around, he was a sincerely good person! Louise and Roy, and family, I'm so sorry for your loss...my heart goes out to you, and everyone else that Bob touched during his life.
Bob was so nice to everyone and always had a smile on his face......R.I.P Bob!
Condolences to all the Family. Bob and I go back to Elks 888 Baseball, 1957. Then Marshall and Millikan together. Always a good student, athlete, and leader, and friend to all. You served your country well my Friend RIP/SEMPER FI
Bob was a kind mentor and a wonderful person. Here's a word from the Psalms that I'm sure he knew well:
Psalm 139 (in part):
"Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, 'Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,' even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.
"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
"How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with you.
"Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."
Bob, was a born leader! I met him in the 7th grade first period gym class. Always a friend, always had good things to say about everyone. Rest in peace friend.
