Elvia T. Amendola, 96, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 25, 2014. She was born May 24, 1918, in New York City, New York to Erminio and Antonia Paoletti. Elvia retired to southern New Mexico with her husband, William Amendola, in the 1970s. Elvia had been a resident of Mesilla for nearly 25 years and was a parishioner of San Albino Catholic Church. Elvia had a vibrant spirit who enjoyed dancing, jazz music, and cooking authentic Italian cuisine. She had a loving and caring personality, and quite the sense of humor. She will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her. She is survived by her son, William J. "Billy" Amendola, and her three grandchildren, Ariel, Valerie, and Rosemarie Amendola of Las Cruces. She is preceded in death by her husband William J. Amendola and daughter-in-law Spring Amendola. A public visitation will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 6 p.m. followed by a prayer vigil to start at 7 pm, at La Paz-Graham's Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral M,ass will be held on Friday, May 30, at St. Albert the Great Newman Center, 2615 S. Solano Drive, to begin 10 a.m. with burial to follow at San Albino Cemetery in Mesilla, NM.

Ariel, Valerie, and Rosie: Your grandma was a lovely woman that touched my heart. She was kind, gentle and oh so friendly! I am so sorry for your loss but she will watch over you forever! My condolences to all of you and your father.
