Although I never personally met Dr. McDowell, I have been well acquainted with his son, John, Jr. Dr. McDowell and wife Jackie, had to have been wonderful role models for my dear frind John, who is the finest man that I have ever met and an outstanding lawyer here in Dallas. John and I worked together for over 20 years and our friendship has endured for over 30 years. May Dr. McDowell rest in eternal peace at the hand of his Almighty Father........ Rebecca
I was fortunate to know John through both the Las Cruces Shrine Club and a men's prayer group. My last memory of John was his hard work at the smoky outside grill cooking steaks for the Shrine Club. He blessed me and the community in a multitude of ways. Las Cruces was lucky to have him and I was blessed to know him.
May the Lord comfort you in this time of loss.
Dear Jimmy, Cammy & family; So very sorry to hear of the loss of your dad. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours at this difficult time.
Milke and I have just come from John' s beautiful memorial service. What a wonderful celebration of his life. Our friendship with John began on the tennis course. We shared many fun hours trying to keep that fuzzy yellow ball within the lines. We always admired John' s passion and enthusiasm for the game and life. We will miss him and we are good Democrats
Mrs. McDowell, John, Stephanie and Andrea,
The loss of your husband and father is a loss to all of our community. May you find comfort in the reminders everywhere in this town that his kindness touched. He will be with you forever in your hearts, your spirit and your continuation of his giving ways. Our hearts are saddened with your loss.
The Gutierrez Family
John Jr., We are so sorry for your loss, and thank you for recommending that we read this wonderful celebration/recap of your father's long, productive and fascinating life. May the rest of your life be just as interesting and diverse... and even longer!
John McDowell was a great friend through the Rotary Club of Las Cruces and it is so sad to learn of his death. While both written and spoken words are inadequate to express the depth of my concern for Mrs. McDowell and all the rest of his family at his passing, I do want them to know they are in my thoughts and prayers....
Dear John and Family, I wish you my sincere condolences and keep you all in my prayers.
John McDowell was a generous and respected brother-in-law to me, a devoted family man, principled giver to his community, a true gentleman and good friend. May he have the peace he so richly deserves. ~ Ray Davenport
