Lucinda Rea Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Lucinda Rea, 48, of Las Cruces, N.M., on Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at University of New Mexico Hospital, Albuquerque, N.M. She was born on Aug. 24, 1964, in Santa Maria, Calif. She graduated from Santa Maria High and was a longtime resident of Las Cruces. Prior to her passing she was employed by Santa Fe Grill. She had a passion for cooking, barbequing, singing, fishing and football. Lucinda cherished the time she had by surrounding herself with the people she loved and always went out of her way to make everyone feel comfortable. She was the life of the party and will always be remembered for her goofiness. Lucinda battled with cancer for two years before our Lord and Savior took her by the hand and led her home to be with him. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Lucinda is survived by her only child, Isaiah Rea, of Las Cruces; her parents, Richard Rea Sr. of San Jose, Calif., and Jessie Lopez of Santa Maria; stepmother, Diane Recinos of Las Cruces; maternal grandmother, Maria Solano, of Santa Maria; four sisters, Paula Lopez and brother-in-law Jose of Moreno Valley, Calif., Carolina Mijares and brother-in-law Antonio of Las Cruces, Dina Rea of Las Cruces, and Angela Rea of San Jose.; three brothers, Richard Rea Jr. of Santa Maria., Fred Rea and sister-in-law Alma of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mark Lopez and sister-in-law Jennifer of Tennessee; 16 nieces and nephews; as well numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation for Lucinda will be held Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012 from 6-7 p.m. at Fountain of Life Apostolic Church, 1530 E Arizona St. with an evening service to follow at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Baca's Funeral Chapel of Prayer on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012 beginning at 9:30 a.m. Concluding service and interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery where she will be laid to rest. Serving as casket bearers will be Fred Rea, Antonio Mijares, Martin Garcia, Tony Mijares, Ray Dorado and Rudy Buenrostro. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road, Las Cruces, NM 88005, (575) 527-2222. For online condolences log on to www.bacasfuneralchapelslascruces.com.

Archie I would like to thank you and vicki for being a big part of my beautiful sister's life. I was amazed that she had great friends who became family to her and her son. I would like to send you the song my daughter sang through text or email. Please stay in touch with Isaiah I know it would mean so much to him. Archie there is no doubt in my heart that our sister went to be with God all mighty that was the promise he gave her in return for her pain and suffering. She is so happy now and rejoicing with the Angels. God Bless You, Paulie

To my most precious friend Lucinda Rea whom I will miss dearly. We were friends for a very long time. I knew you were still in town but somehow we lost track of each other. The last time I heard about you was when you had your baby boy Isaiah. It has been hard for me to receive these bad news a week after the services. Lucy like the Bible says our stay is here only for a little while then we wither like the flowers do. And you were that special flower with that special smile. LUCY I will never forget all our crazy and fun times. I WILL love you until we see each other again. My condolences to all the Rea family. (Paulie and Freddie)

My most sincere condolences to you Isaiah. May all your Mother's sweet memories bring you comfort. She will forever be in your heart because that is the gift she gave you when she gave birth to you. I met Lucy because she and my sister Lea were very good friends. She spent many a holiday and birthday celebrations with the Lucero family. I will always remember her infectious laughter. Her smile was enormous and it showed up in her eyes. God bless all her family and especially you, Isaiah.
