Donald E. Grove LEBANON Donald E. Grove, 86, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013 at ManorCare, Lebanon. Born December 19, 1926, in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Claire and Cleo (Rhodes) Grove, and was also preceded in death by a brother, Ralph "Tex" Rhodes. Following time spent in the Army during WWII, he worked on the railroad and for the Department of Transportation in Huntingdon, eventually retiring as a Corrections Officer from the State Department of Corrections in Camp Hill. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 24 and VFW Post 1754, both in Huntingdon; was a member and former Shop Steward for AFSCME; loved his Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers; and was an avid outdoorsman; enjoying hunting and camping, and fishing with his beloved wife, Mabel, who passed away in 2001 after 46 years of marriage. Surviving are his children: Donna M. (and her husband, Harvey) Keister, Harrisburg; Larry E. (and his wife, Linda) Grove, Lebanon and Ronald A. (and his wife, Elaine) Grove, Enola; one brother: Dallas (and his wife, Mildred) Rhodes, Baltimore; four grandchildren: Michael Keister, Steven Keister, Brooke Lewis and Daneta Grove; three great grandchildren: Kaila Keister, Stella Keister and Jackson Keister; and his special companion for the last three months, his granddog, Lacey. Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Kimmel Funeral Home, 2001 Market St., Harrisburg. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. There will be a viewing at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Thursday. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Parkinson's Research Foundation, 5969 Cattleridge Blvd, Sarasota, FL, 34232; or the National Kidney Foundation, 111 S. Independence Mall E, Suite 411, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
