Condolences to the family. I too was in college in the early sixties and it was clear that persons of color were not really welcome there either. However, I did not have to battle bigots, hoses, ax handles and dogs to enter. My hat is off to Mr. Hood for all that has come out of the struggle allowing our youong people to get the same education as anyone else in this country. His legacy will forever be remembered. I can't help but think about the juxtaposition of his struggle on upcoming events in the next three days that demonstrate this powerful legacy (Dr. MLK birthday holiday and the the inauguration of the nation's first black President to a second term as President of these United States of America. What a legacy!
A Brave Step by a Brave Man helped hundreds of thousands, and brought down another brick in the towering wall of racial inequality, tyranny and injustice.
Sorry to hear He will be missed
