Helen Snyder LEBANON Helen Julander "Helene" Snyder, 68, died Monday, March 18, 2013, in the M. S. Hershey Medical Center. Born in Atlantic City, N.J., on January 1, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Helen Julander Hetrick. She was employed by the Cornwall-Lebanon School District as a Physical Education Teacher and Coach for 36 years. Helene graduated in 1962 from Palmyra High School, attended Hershey Junior College, graduated from West Chest State Teacher's College with a degree in Physical Education, and received her Master's degree from West Chester University. She was a member of Gravel Hill United Methodist Church, Palmyra. Surviving are a daughter, Kelly Lyn Snyder of Lebanon; two step-sons, Devon husband of Beck Snyder of West Chester, Brett husband of Veronica Snyder of Roanoke, Va.; eight grandchildren; and four brothers, Ralph husband of Janet Hetrick of Hershey, Sterling husband of Winnie Hetrick of Lakeland, Fla., Frank husband of Donna Hetrick of Annville, and Ronald husband of Kathy Hetrick of Palmyra. Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. from the Gravel Hill United Methodist Church, 131 Gravel Hill Road, Palmyra. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service at the Church. Oh Mrs. Snyder, how unbelievably fabulous you were. You were a wonderful gym teacher; always kind, loving, funny... I have such fond memories of you! After such a meaningful, well-lived life of gifting countless kids with YOU, not to mention what you've given to your dear family and friends, I hope you rest easy in the arms of our Lord, knowing all the good that you have done. You were and always will be a blessing to us all.

I had Mrs. Snyder for a gym teacher. She made such a positive influence in my life back in school. I will never forget how i used to kid her about how much coffee she was drinking. She always told me only 1 cup Mel, 1 cup! My favorite gym teacher during my time at CCHS. My prayers go out to her family.

Mrs. Snyder was a truly inspirational woman and a born champion and leader. I was lucky enough to have her as a coach through many years and several sports. She will surely be missed, but has touched the hearts of so many young people, she will never be forgotten.

Helene was like an Aunt to me ... we enjoyed many memories in Maine and back at Aunt Donna/Uncle Frank's farm. Her energy and laugh was contagious; she was someone you wanted to be around. She brought very much light to our family. She will be greatly missed by all the lives she touched.

We have lost an amazing Coach, Mentor and Leader who has greatly influenced the Lebanon Community. I remember her "encouraging" us during Field Hockey practice and games, which made us run a little faster. She will be greatly missed.

I remember the intense cheering to the cedar crest field hockey players from on the side lines. The energy and love she had for her players from field hockey to track. The dedication. She was a fantastic couch, person and mentor to us all!

I remember Mrs Snyder as being a fighter for her team.. Even though I only had her for gym, she was a very caring teacher and listened to her students.. She will be missed by everyones lives she touched over the years at Cedar Crest and her family..
