One of my very best friends. I miss him.
November-10-17
A proud and stoic man our Dougy was. Now free and at peace after his hard fought battle. We'll really miss him, he was a dear friend. Our love and sympathy to Pat, Deb, Natalie and family. Doug was blessed to have had you in his life...also blessed to have had such loyal friends (you know who you are)...

Without a doubt, Doug was truly one of a kind. A big laugh and a bigger heart. Always a friend no matter how much time had passed between seeing him. He'll be missed greatly by his friends and will always be remembered for the great times we all had with him and his character. Sympathies and best wishes to his family.

My first memory of Dougie was in 1984 when we met at the Rams clubhouse. He was a quiet kid. I guess he didn't need to say much seeing as his actions on the field did most of the talking for him. Back then he was wearing khaki pants and listening to Sunday Bloody Sunday. To this day, I always think of him when I hear U2.
Dougie was a great team guy. He made many big plays over his playing career - too many to count. I feel very fortunate to have played with him. After our playing days, Doug would always make an effort to ensure I felt connected to the team and the organization. He has spend most of the last 30 years advocating for the Rams through his various leadership roles in the organization. He was part of the group that had the vision to move the Rams into the Canadian University ranks.
Doug lived and breathed Regina Rams football. He saw the value to the community - not only in wins and losses, but in producing quality people who would become community leaders. Doug spent countless hours volunteering, fundraising, and living through the challenges that come along with change.
Thank you Dougie, for your dedication and commitment. Thank you for being a great teammate and friend. We will miss you, Buddy!
