Peter BROOK

Even though I only got to work with Peter briefly while on the IPCC I quickly realized his passion for helping the sport move forward was second to none. Peter certainly got his point across while ensuring that everyone felt comfortable and engaged in the process. I didn't know Peter outside of that, but if he was anything like he was in our meetings not only has our community lost a great friend, so has everyone who knew him.

So sorry I couldn't be at the celebration today. I was thinking of Peter today and the wonderful contribution he has made to rowing and to so many other things. One of the things that I love about Peter is how he was true to the things and people he loved...and this is how he spent his time and his energy. In his last couple of years, I heard many stories of time spent with Bonnie, children and grandchildren. We, as a rowing community, are honoured that he continued to spend time with us.

My thoughts and prayers are with Bonnie and family. Peter's contribution to his sport are well recognized and I will remember him most for being caring and considerate of others. Peter, you will be missed and you will be always remembered.

Although I will say more at the celebration of Peter's life, I want to repeat here what I said about him at the annual general meeting of Rowing Canada Aviron last January. Peter was a big man, with a big heart and a big vision. His contribution to rowing in Canada was enormous. He will be missed!
