It has been wonderful reading all of the memories of John, especially those of his younger working life, where his tenacity and brilliance shon most. For me he was always my father in law, Buppa, where work and the grand stage that it was, never entered in to our relationship. For us it was his wonder of the smallest things that I cherished and we shared the most. He grew all kinds of flowers, nursed trees and plants back to health, which most people would toss in the garbage. He gave everyone and everything a chance to show their good. Never one to boast or show off, he lived a very humble life and for the most part only needed the necessities, for which his cars were a perfect example.
Living so close to him as we did, we continue feeling that he will knock on the door, enter with one last exhale of pipe smoke, set flowers on the kitchen table, give the dog a heavy pet and have a cup of coffee. It has been difficult dismantling his life but we are learning evermore bits and pieces of him as we do, so that is the reward. The signs of his spirit have been plenty and we hope in some ways he is showing up in others lives as well.

Christen, Jehane and Anna, I am so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I remember your dad's warm smile, his pipe, and hearing him play classical music when visiting your home in elementary school. :) My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. My mom and dad also send their prayers. Take care of yourselves and each other.

I am sorry for your loss. There was something special about your Dad. He was one of the finest persons I knew. A scholar, a lawyer, a mentor, a good friend, a man of strong faith. All around, just really a good person. He impacted and touched so many lives, all for the better. The Obituary is very well written, and is a tribute to his character. Take care. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

I am deaply saddened to hear about John's death. Although we haven't been in contact much lately he wrote me a very nice email when my mother died two years ago. I have never forgotten the day we walked to school together to start grade 1 and we continued to be close friends through university.

I was saddened to hear of John's untimely passing. When I was a young prosecutor in the Regina office he was a mentor and a hero. I swear that the theme to "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" played as he strode into the Courtroom with QB robes waiving behind him. John was my real life Clint Eastwood. He was both soft spoken and tough at the same time. John always had time to talk and to teach. John was cool.My condolences to his family.

I worked with John and the City Police, and he was able to get the first "dangerous offender" designation in Saskatchewan.(with 18 victims, no less) He was brilliant, soft spoken and fun. I was so fortunate to have known him. The world has lost one of best.

To the Stoesser Family: I dealt with John on numerous occasions over the years, and can best describe him as a fine, fine gentleman whose presence enriched my life. Cherish his memory.
