On Sunday, December 2, 2012 Larry began his journey to the Creator to join loved ones who had gone previously. Those predeceased include his adopted mothers Evaline Archdale and Lena O'Watch. Also waiting for Larry are his parents Vincent and Marion (nee Ketchemonia); brothers Leonard Ketchemonia, Glen Anaquod Sr., Willard Anaquod, Russel Redman, Art Redman and Oliver Archdale; sister Connie Langan; step- mother Adeline Redman; daughter Kimberly; his cousin/brother Robert (Ningskhi) Cote; nephews Glen Anaquod Jr. and Greg Anaquod. Larry is survived by his beloved wife Denise Anaquod; sons Douglas (Danielle), Vincent (Jess), Darcy (Clover), Aaron (Kim), Andre, Terry Brockie; daughters JeriLyn (Mike), Heather Lauri (Greg), Tara, Cheyenne, and Lori (Floyd); With these children come 27 wonderful grandchildren. Larry is also survived by brothers Robert Anaquod, Eugene Anaquod, Rick Redman- Whitecloud, Dwayne 'Virgil' Redman, Robert Fourstar, Bernard Tapaquon and Tommy Christian; sisters Yvonne (Alfred) McLeod, Diane Redman and Angie Redman, Julia (Andrew) Ferrar, and Joan Blount; his special friends and relatives Eric Beaudin, Malcolm (Lori) French, Ronnie (Donna) Bird, Lillian (Cliff) Campbell, Doreen Dustyhorn, Val Ironchild and Richard Ironchild. Larry was orphaned at a young age but always considered himself blessed as he was adopted in his lifetime by two very strong traditional ladies. He placed great value on his traditional ways and on education. A graduate of Mount Royal College, he encouraged young people to focus on education so as to honor the grandfathers and past chiefs who surrendered so much for our futures. As a young man Larry participated in many activities/sports which included saddle- bronc, boxing, basketball, track and hockey. He later returned to dancing and became a champion traditional style dancer. His work with the then Dept. Tourism & Renewable Resources enabled him to become a world traveler spending time in Taipei, Singapore, China, Australia, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the Middle East and the United States as well as visiting other European countries. For a time, Larry also worked with Native Metal Industries and made many good friends from many First Nation communities. He spent numerous hours in film productions which included Unsolved Mysteries, VisionQuest and Big Bear. A Celebration of Larry's life will begin at the Piapot First Nation Community Hall on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 7:00 pm with the funeral services on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 11:00 am. Burial at Muscowpetung First Nation cemetery. Thanks to the nursing staff in CSU ward at Pasqua Hospital. Larry has specifically asked that no children under 12 be in attendance at either the wake or funeral-no exceptions; please respect him. Also, women please adhere to the custom of print skirts, or, for our non-aboriginal friends, below-knee length contemporary skirts/dresses. NOTE: In the week before his departure Larry wanted to make certain to thank the following for supporting his wife Denise: Dr. Martin LeBoldus High School, CEC HR staff Sandra Baragar, RCSTA President Deb Ward, and that 'table bunch' Nish, Vinnie, Greg, Dan, Tom, Desmond, Deb-Bye and special thanks to Celine Gauthier, Brad Breit and Glenda & Eugene Weasel.

Ever since I was a little girl, I looked up to Larry and admired him. Both he and Denise welcomed me into the circle without hesitation. He was an amazing dancer with a distinct style. I remember watching him dance one year when I was young - and when he was done, he came back and said, "I was dancing for you". I will never forget that and what it meant to me as a young girl. I will always look for his distinctive presence in the circle and I will always know that he is there.

My sincerest condolences to Denise and family. My memories of Larry are many as he shared his cultural knowledge with all of us at SUNTEP over the years. It was always a highlight of our year when we would take tobacco and ask him to share, yet another time, his wisdom. He and Glen were a dynamic duo and I'm sure they are sitting together somewhere. What a huge loss for our community and for his family. May the wise words of Larry live on.
