My sincere condolences to Helen, Lee, Katie and family on the loss of a great friend, Leslie. Growing up together on our respective farms and keeping in touch all this time brings back so many amazing memories. Leslie was always a very positive person with a great quirky sense of humour. She handled the challenges that life threw at her with grace and calm. She will be greatly missed but in our hearts forever.

Helen, hoping that your memories of Leslie will bring some comfort as you find your way through this most difficult time.

Since my brothers and I were little, we would always argue about who got to go to Leslie's to sell chocolate almonds - she always bought a whole box and often didn't even take the box!!! At Halloween she would pour a whole bag of candy into our pillowcases!! Needless to say, she supported any school or extracurricular endeavour we presented to her. If there was ANYTHING my brothers and I ever needed, Leslie was there for us - she was our aunt.

As we grew up, she became a trusted friend and neighbour and an inspiration - she taught us so much about love, laughter, life, friendship, humility, altruism, and partnership; I have looked up for her and Helen for as long as I can remember. Further, some of the deepest howling laughs I have had have been with Helen and Leslie; I don't know anyone with a better sense of humour.

I have often wondered how I got so lucky that my parents happened to move in beside Leslie and as a result of that proximity, I was lucky enough to know and learn from her and Helen. Moreover, I am even more grateful that my parents have had Leslie and Helen as the best friends anyone could ask for they have shared so many laughs, hugs, deep conversations, and life milestones together my parents are very lucky to know Leslie and Helen and learn from two of the most intelligent and astute people I have ever met.

I am so so sorry for your loss Helen; you and Leslie make me want to be a better person and partner. I am so fortunate to have seen, experienced, and felt the deep love and connection you have with Leslie, which undoubtedly, you continue to feel.

The ones that love us never really leave us.
