I am at a loss for words. I just learned of Mike's passing earlier today. So many people loved him deeply and it warms me reading the comments here.

I met Mike about 10 years ago through a mutual friend. To me he was a whirlwind of a person. Always had something on the go. We are the same age and we had a few things in common so the friendship formed easy, and I think that what got me in good with Mike is that I could make him laugh, as I'm a goof.

We went months at a time without running into each other but at some point we got each others' phone numbers and began keeping each other up to date with how and what we were doing.

Sometimes we talked for hours on the phone. Sometimes it was me that needed to talk. Sometimes it was him. I could listen to his stories forever. He had an in depth understanding of people and their personalities and all the things that make us human. Like a previous message here said, he was indeed a deep thinker. I remember wondering if he knew just how insightful he was. I told him he could be a writer if he wanted to be. I came to see him as wise, philosophical, humane, a real friend.

For adults it is rare to meet new friends, they say. But Mike had a soft spot for me. I'm glad to have known him... I'm happy to have known you, Mike my friend. I cried at work thinking about you today. Maybe just for selfish reasons. I'll never get to chat again with you, or hang out with you.

Mike, buddy, big guy.. thanks for being my friend. I know you're up there. Please come down and say hi some time if you can. I'd appreciate it.

Sending our deepest condolences to Stacey & family. We had the privilege of meeting Michael one prairie summer evening here in Moose Jaw, not so long ago, there were many laughs, Kate couldn't take her eyes off of Michael & his humour, Michael was the show that evening with Uncle Rick in tow. A beautiful mind, a soft soul, the universe just got a whole lotta love ! Gods Speed

Stacey and Phil, the loss of Michael at such youthful age has left all of his family numb beyond belief. It was only a short time ago that he was at our house assuring us he was in a good space and looking forward to getting back to work. Michael came by regularly and we wish we could of helped more. His family's lives are better for having him in their life. Michael was a gentle soul, an old soul and a very loving soul. Michael never hurt anyone intentionally. His friends would say "he is a good guy". Michael filled his space on this earth the way he wanted to and we let him. It is the way it has to be with our children even when it hurts so badly. We will always be here for you if you need us. Love Foster and Shelley Monson.

Michael, I remember you as a cute, happy, friendly boy on your grandma Peggy's
acreage. You were fun-loving, spirited and adventurous playing with Maggie, Courtny,
Meaghan and Connor. The picture that sticks out in my mind is you wearing a helmet and driving a little farm tractor. I recall a tug-of-war and a bonfire one night.
We all miss you very much, Michael! My Love to Stacey & Phil. Uncle Gary Michalski

Michael, I think about you all the time and see you in unexpected ways. Today I saw the most interesting bird with a red mowhawk and immediately you popped into my mind. I love you. You are like a brother to me and even though my heartbreaks I know I will see you again and give you a huge hug. Sending my love, prayers and peaceful, comforting vibes to my sister and all my family. Michael- you were special and important. And still are forever in my heart.
Love Maggie
