Joseph Gary Smith, 62, Oak Drive, Springfield, died at 8:35 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Norton Hospital in Louisville.
Born Oct. 27, 1951 in Lebanon, he was preceded in death by his mother, Sylvia Mudd Smith, June 14, 1980.
He was a real estate agent for several years and was a consultant with G. Smith Consulting and Courier and was a member of River of Life Community Church in Springfield.
He is survived by the love of his life, Peggy Browning Burke of Lebanon; a son, Bryan (Laura) Smith of Lexington; two daughters, Natalie (Gabe) Stone and Meredith Smith all of Bardstown; his father, Jim Smith of Louisville; three brothers, Steve (Wanda) Smith of Springfield, Bernie (Carie) Smith of Louisville and Tony (Lamar) Smith of Houston, Texas; seven sisters, Mary Carey (Pee Wee Nally) of Springfield, Barbara Ann (Tim) Thompson and Donna Jean (Jack) Reed all of Louisville, Judy (Rick) Goodin of Lebanon, Kita (Phil) Steinmetz of Jeffersonville, Ind., Theresa (Randy) Lanning of Grand Rapids, Mich. and Lou (John) Jaworski of Ijamsville, Md.; a grandson, Deuce Stone; 41 nieces and nephews; and 16 great-neices and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, at River of Life Community Church in Springfield with Rev. Troy Shelton officiating. Burial will be in St. Rose Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, and after 8 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, at River of Life Church.
Pallbearers will be Jerry and Terry Fowler, John Strickland, Wesley Smith, David Etheredge, Tommie Hurst, Lee Robinson, and Michael Carey.
Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home, Springfield, is in charge of arrangements.

Many thanks to everyone for the kindness shown to Gary's family. We will also miss that smile amoung so much more. Goodbye and rest in peace big brother
