Columbus, GA- SFC(Ret.)Charles L. Foxx, 80 of 2617 7th Street, Columbus entered into eternal rest Friday January 4, 2013 surrounded by loving family at his residence. Funeral services will be held 11:00AM Wednesday January 9, 2013 at New Providence Baptist Church, 5227 14th Avenue, Columbus with the Pastor Rev. Gerald Parker, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with full military honors according to Hill-Watson-People's Funeral Service LLC. Visitation will be from 1:00PM-7:00PM today, Tuesday January 8, 2013 at the Rose Hill Chapel of Hill-Watson-People's Funeral Service LLC, 2919 Hamilton Road. SFC Foxx was born March 16, 1932 in Gainesville FL son of the late James and Lois Strong Foxx. He was one of sixteen children. SFC Foxx attended Lincoln High school in Gainesville Florida and South Georgia Technical College, Americus, GA. SFC Foxx joined the U.S. Army in June 1952, served both in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, earning several honors and certificates to include the Silver Star, Two Bronze Stars, First Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star, Second Oak Leaf Cluster; Bronze Medal. SFC Foxx retired in 1972. He was employed with Muscogee County School District, Georgia Forestry for two years and owned his own business, Foxx Furniture Repair for over 30 years. He joined New Providence Baptist Church in 1974 and served in many areas: Deacon, Senior Usher, Kitchen, Baptism, and Bus Committee and was a Caregiver for many members and friends. Deacon Foxx will be remembered as a Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. He leaves to cherish his memory; a devoted wife of fifty two years, Dorothy A. Foxx; One son, Jeffrey (Cynthia) Foxx, Columbus, GA; Two daughters, Ivy Foxx, Columbus GA and Jenetta (Keith) Lowery, Jacksonville, FL; Six beloved grandchildren, Felicia (Willie) Welch, Opelika AL,DeAndre, Jeremy and Brandon Foxx all of Columbus GA, Justin and Jacori Lowery, Jacksonville, FL;Three great grandchildren, KeAunte and Destiny Foxx of Jacksonville FL, and Kayden Foxx, Columbus, GA; Four sisters, Lois Stewart and Queen (Timothy) Hicks,Jacksonville FL, Elizabeth (Carl) Ness,Atlanta, GA and Tennie Mae Green, Gainesville, FL; Four brothers, Douglass (Carolyn) ,Hinesville, GA, Elexander, George (Evelyn) and Ronnie (Bonnie) Foxx of Gainesville, FL; Three sisters- in- law, Jean (Julius) Briggs,Fayetteville, NC,Janie Foxx,San Antonio TX and Lillie Bell Foxx, Limington, NC; Extended family, William Brown Family, Michael Anthony, Reginald Jones, Kenneth Hill, Theresa Wright, Rosalyn Murphy, Elijah Stewart, Tiara Walker, Patricia Williams, Mary Hentz and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Preceding him in death are, one grand-daughter, Keisha Lowery; one sister, Betty Ann Nelson; and five brothers, James, Clarence, Samuel, Fred and Earl.

Our prayers are with the entire family during this time of loss. Mr Foxx was a great man. He will be missed greatly by so many of us. Heaven sure gained an awesome angel when you departed from this earth.Thank's for a the great words that you gave to our family over the years. I meet you by the river !!
