Columbus, Georgia- Cora Wilcox, age 88, resident of Columbus, died on Monday, June 30, 2014 at Midtown Medical Center. Funeral services are scheduled at Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus on Thursday, July 3, 2014, 9:30 a.m. with Reverend Scott Tucker officiating. Interment will follow at Main Post Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 from 5-7 p.m.
Mrs. Wilcox, daughter of the late Walter Guy Sawyers and Eva Dooley Sawyers, was born October 12, 1925 in Summersville, West Virginia. She was a homemaker and member of Living Grace Methodist Church. Mrs. Wilcox was a member of Fort Benning Retired Sergeant Major Wives Club; Officer/Member, Edgewood Senior's Center; Member of Northgate Women's Club; and a Red Cross Volunteer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wilcox; one sister; and four brothers. Mrs. Wilcox is survived by one daughter, Renae W. Hodge and her husband Jim of Boulder, Colorado; one son, Jim Wilcox and his wife Evelyn of Albany, Georgia; two sisters, Leona Wade of Roanoke, Virginia and Mable Caley of San Diego, California; four grandchildren, David Wilcox, Jillian Gibson, Jeffrey Hodge, and Johanna Hodge; two great-granddaughters, Elizabeth Hodge and Samantha Renae Hodge; other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Living Grace United Methodist Church, 3969 Edgewood Circle, Columbus, Georgia 31907. Condolences may be offered at www.shcolumbus.com.

Mrs. Wilcox will be missed by all of our staff at the accounting office. She was a delightful person and always so thoughtful. Everyone loved and appreciated the box of goodies that she would bring to all of us during the holidays. Our prayers are with the family in their loss.
