Another guy I loved to watch, growing up is gone. I will miss Frank Bank, who portrayed Lumpy, er, Clarance Rutherford, on "Leave It To Beaver." Sometimes I feel like "Lumpy", a nice person, likes to hang with the crowd, sometimes slow, weight problem, but still a sweet person. Frank Bank will be terribly missed, but I will never forget him as Lumpy. Another person I loved to watch is gone, there goes another part of my childhood!
Experiencing the death of a loved one is never a joyous occasion. May you find peace in knowing that soon, our creator will completely remove death forever. (1 Corinthians 15:26)
Lumpy, you and Eddie are members of our childhood pantheon. How many people have we met over the past 50 years and described as "another Lumpy Rutherford" or "a real Eddie Haskell"? We always knew you didn't have it in your heart to pound the Beaver.
Rebecca, My sincerest sympathy. Please get in touch with me. Mary - NC

To Frank, an Icon to a generation.
A reference to "Lumpy" is instantly understood as a harmless, oversized bully only trying to assert himself and establish his importance.
I was saddened to hear you left us, and couldn't help but wonder if you got "clobbered" or "given the business".
Thank you for taking the "Lumps" in this Boomer's moral upbringing.

Frank's late aunt, the former Maxine Harris was my father's first cousin, though I did not know that when I was growing up in suburban Minneapolis (not really all that far from Frank's mother's Northfield birthplace) watching Frank on "Leave It to Beaver."
Thanks to Stu Shostack and Jeanine Kasun for "introducing" me to my mishpocha, for enabling us to share in what turned out to be a brief "tradition" of ringing in the New Year and to Frank for gifting me with an autographed copy of the DVD featuring his appearance on Family Feud.
I loved reading Frank's book, too!
Frank was the only one I know of who could beat me in a 50's and early '60s pop music trivia contest. His knowledge of the subject and the most obscure details was absolutely amazing!

Julie and Kelly , I am so truly sorry to hear about your dad. I have never forgotten what Frank has done for me and how his influence changed my life. He was really a GOOD GUY and I am sorry I never got the chance to tell him that. After all he taught me how to fry matzah, and turned me on lox, eggs and onions yum yum! I hope you are all doing well. If you ever want to talk 716-602-1014. Becca I truly sorry for your loss. God Bless.
Dearest Bank Family,
Julie told us that friends and loved ones called Frank all day long on his birthday. We spoke to him that day as well and he was so happy to be home and to hear from so many. Frank knew he was loved and cherished. And as sad as we are to lose him, we think that is a terrific last day...a real gift.
We had a lot of fun with Frank and will truly miss him. He was a good and loyal friend. And he never missed an opportunity to do something for the troops.
Our heartfelt sympathies and love to you all,
To Rebecca and Family:
We all grieve with you over the passing of Frank. He was someone that many of us grew up with and made our days much happier back then. "Leave it to Beaver" was made better by Frank's inclusion in the cast.
While I never had the chance to meet him (my brother did, I was told he was a real pleasure to know, even for a few moments.
May you all be comforted with fond memories of him and the joy he brought to so many.
