Much sympathy to the Davis family. Thank you so much for sharing Steve with the OU family. My favorite memories of Steve include his opening the door for me at OU's Baptist Student Union, stopping by my friend's car on which we had just changed a flat tire to see if he could do anything for us on his way across campus, and his taking the stage at the Oklahoma Southern Baptist youth evangelism conference, the winter before his Senior season at OU. Steve promised the crowd that OU would be in the National Championship game at the end of the next season. Like Joe Willie Namath who promised a win at the Super Bowl, James Steven came through with his promise. He helped get us to the championship game and brought home MVP and National Championship & Orange Bowl trophies to boot. That was such a thrill. It was such a great thing to watch Steve play on the field, but also to see him as a Christian gentleman. Steve is one of the Sooner greats and he will be missed so much. We didn't lose Steve, we know just where he is, now. Heaven's gates surely opened wide for him where he's been welcomed by his beloved brother, George. Many condolences. Thanks for sharing your loved one with the rest of the state and the Sooner Nation.
