The thoughts of Tony give me a special emotion. He was a true sportsman and a gentleman to the core and I can never forget his lively commentary. I really feel that his death is untimely. He could have lived for many more years.
Here is a small poem from me that might reflect his epitaph.

Plant not a tree

Having enjoyed his commentaries over the years, I first made Tony's acquaintance in Sharjah during the tournament in which South Africa were playing in 1996 when he told me he trusted I had been honest on my leave application and was not "pulling a sicky as, everytime I look at the screen, you're in the picture! He brought many, many valued hours of commentary over the years and will be sorely missed. Deepest sympathy to his whole family and friends.

Thank you Tony for many, many days of pleasure from your unique commentaries. My father & gr.father from Durban spent long hours debating the Packer series and as a youngster I remember deciding for myself that if a 'S.An.' was involved it must be a good thing. God Bless you in the great oval in the sky and your family as they mourn your departure. Tony, Durban, SA
