Ft. Mitchell, AL- Ret. SFC William W. "Bill" Brown, 64, of Ft. Mitchell, AL, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, in Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am EST, on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at Vance Memorial Chapel with Rev. Kenny Harris officiating. Interment will be held at Ft. Mitchell National cemetery and the family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm EST at the funeral home.
Bill was born on July 17, 1949, in Newark, AR, the son of the late William Woodrow Brown and Laura Jones Brown. In 1989 he retired, after 20 years of service, from the US Army. After retiring from the Army he worked several jobs including TIC credit union and was division manager for Steve Check Casher Inc. and retired in 2012. He was a volunteer for Red Cross at Martin Army Hospital. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Suzy Boner.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly of Ft. Mitchell, AL; children, Tracey Roberts, husband Tony of Ft. Mitchell, AL and Jason Brown, wife Nim of Fulshear, TX; 2 granddaughters, Whitney and Kelcie Robertson, of Ft. Mitchell, AL; 2 sisters, Leona Sipes, husband Mike of Forest City, MO and Ft. Mitchell, AL and Vicki Giles of Bethany, MO; 1 brother, Dick Brown of Preston, MO; 2 sister in-laws, Germain Bowdler of Texico, IL and Judy Williams of Mt. Vernon, IL; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
