Dick was born in Toledo, Ohio, the oldest of six children, to Fred C. and Ruth E. (Cassady) Miller. He graduated from Adrian High School, Adrian, Mich., in 1945 and immediately entered the Army Air Force where he was stationed in the Aleutian Islands for nine months. After an honorable discharge, he returned to Adrian and married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Hagadorn, in 1948. They were married for 70 years. After teaching seventh and eighth grades at Frost Junior High in Livonia, Mich., for 30 years, he retired in 1994.
Dick was a devoted member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor, Mich., where he served in many capacities in the 64 years he attended. He also served on the WELS Michigan District Missions Board, and was a regent of Huron Valley Lutheran High School. Dick was a past president of the Ypsilanti Kiwanis where he enjoyed many fond friendships. He also was a member of the Redford Model Train Club where he spent many happy hours.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, Mary Westgate Hauter, Robert Miller, Keith Miller, John Miller and an infant sibling. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; three children, David (Barbara) Miller, Jane (Bill) Mangold, and James (Diane O'Connell) Miller; sister, Patricia Sells; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He will be fondly remembered.
A memorial service will be held on Sept. 15, 2018, at Salem Lutheran Church on Scio Church Road in Ann Arbor. Pastor Jacob Haag will officiate the 11 a.m. service. There will be visitation before the service at 10 a.m.

I cant believe it's already a year since he left his earthly home for his heavenly home. As a fellow classmate of 45, I remember him as always the gentle man that he was. I know I will see him again. Marilyn, I'm thinking of you today. Enjoy your precious memories!

I 'm probably the one to represent the class of 1945, Adrian High school of which Dick was our vice president. We have fond memories of our last reunion, our 65th on June 19th, 2010. Dick was our MC for the evening. My memory of him was that he was always a gentleman.
I know that I will see him again as I live with that same blessed hope that he had, that of an everlasting life after death.
Our condolences to Marilyn and family.

Hi Marilyn, Dave, Jane, and Jim!
We were so sorry to hear of Dick's passing, but know he is whole and healthy in the presence of the Lord.
But it's still hard to say goodbye to precious family members. So glad we have the promise of eternity with loved ones who know Christ as Savior.
We are so sorry that we will not be able to attend the memorial service on the 15th. Darwin's brother passed away this week, and that is the day of his memorial service also.
I (Marg) have so many wonderful memories of Dick from the past! I'm sure my folks will be overjoyed to see him again. Seems like heaven has a bigger population from "The Gang" all the time.
We love you all so much and will be praying for you.
Love,
Marg & Darwin Hukill
