This is a note from Chris and Annabel Fieldhouse.
Annabel was Annabel Crook and worked in the kiosk, under Joan at first, from 1969 to mid 1970s in uni holidays. Chris worked as a casual guide from 1967 to1975 and has many fond memories of Ron. Chris remembers the great job Ron did in steam cleaning the Orient; the many special sections of cave that he pointed out; his great expertise in the bush band on his larger phone; the concerts in the Grand Arch with the bush band and one special trip to Bathurst to play in a folk festival. Also that Chequerboard was planning to do a TV program on Ron but it never came off. Annabel remembers Ron and John Culley showing her and others the wonders of the caves and in particular Barellan which Ron and John had discovered. The Wallaby Hall film nights and socials with families were heaps of fun. There was always something magical for us at Jenolan such that we chose the Temple of Baal for our wedding and Caves House for our lunch reception.Ron and John were pivotal in making this happen for us.We have photos of them at our wedding and were honored that they could attend. All in all we will never forget Ron. [email protected]
