Elmer Bloecher passed from this earthly life, to life eternal with his Lord, at home with his family on August 27, at the age of 90. Elmer was born on August 16, 1923, in Elderon, Wisconsin. He was the son of the late Clarence (Pat) and Suzanna (Rutkowski) Bloecher. He lived in Stockton for the past 79 years. Upon graduation from Stockton High School he enlisted in the U.S. Army. In 1987, he retired from Fibreboard and Gold Bond Building Products after working for 46 years as a machinist. He was an avid gardener, fisherman, and outdoorsman with decades of backpacking adventures in the Yosemite high country, the Sierras and Hawaii. He passed along his enthusiasm and love of God's creation to his children and grandchildren with numerous family vacations in the Sierras.
Elmer was a man of faith and loved the Lord. He served at his church as a Board Member, Sunday School Teacher, and enjoyed singing in the choir at the old Calvary Assembly in downtown Stockton. For the last 17 years he has been blessed to worship at First Baptist Church in Stockton. For many years he was active coaching Little League and Babe Ruth baseball.
Two sisters, Ruby and Irma and a brother, Richard, preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Betty. He also leaves behind his children who lovingly and tenderly cared for him during his last illness: Cathy and Chris Jarvinen of Folsom, Ca, Ernie and Gracie Bloecher of Aromas, Ca, Julie and Mark Colbert of Aptos, Ca, and his dearly loved grandchildren and their spouses, Ryan (Amy), Zach, Matt (Kim), and Brandon Jarvinen, Daniel, Katie, and Eric Bloecher, and Alison (Sean) Sullivan, Christian, Nathaniel, and Kelly Colbert, and one great-grandchild, Cora (daughter of Matt and Kim). Elmer is also survived by his dear brother-in-law and wife, Bill and Betsy Foust, sister-in-law, Dorothy Bloecher, and his much-loved nieces and nephews.
Elmer was an amazing man, beloved husband, dad, granpa, and great-granpa. He served his family well by setting an example of a godly husband and father. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and all who knew him.
