Ackerly, Albert

Albert Ackerly 87, of Thornwood, N.Y. died on Feb.28,2015 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, N.Y. He was born on July 21,1927 to the late Harold and Clara (nee Preiser) Ackerly in White Plains, N.Y. Albert served proudly with the US Navy during WWII. He worked for Higham Press in Pleasantville, N.Y. He was an active member of the Thornwood Fire Co. for over sixty years and served as Sgt. at Arms for over fifty years. Albert was predeceased by his devoted wife, Dorothy Ackerly in 2002 and his son Roger Ackerly in 2014 along with five deceased brothers and one deceased sister. He is survived by his loving son, Keith (Diane) Ackerly of Thornwood, N.Y. and daughter in law, Cathy Ackerly of Boiling Springs, NC. one sister, Dorothy (Arthur) Willis of Brewster, N.Y. also survived by his one cherished granddaughter, Lauren Ackerly and many beloved nieces and nephews. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Wednesday, 4-8 PM. Where funeral services will be held on Thursday, 10 AM. Interment, Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, N.Y.
