To the family of Mr. Joe Davis,
So , so sorry to hear about your loss. I just want you to know that Mr. Davis was a very close friend of my mother and father when they lived in Fair Haven, NJ in the 1940's (although I believe he originally met my father in Kentucky while they both served in the AAF). When they moved away, he remained in contact with them until their deaths. They both thought so much of him. He was also very supportive of me & my brothers when we lost our mother 3 years ago. He was so kind and understanding -- sharing so many stories of their friendship down through the years. I could always count on a card from him on every holiday that helped me get through some tough times. I'll really miss him & share in your loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

Joe Davis was a high school friend of my Dad, Alfonzo B. Owens, , Jr. they attended White Plains High School together. Joe Davis, James Fowkles and my dad had many conversations about White Plains, Westchester and the State of Black People in Westchester County. And I had the opportunity to hear from a few black "firsts" from White Plains. All gentlemen. Our condolences to the family of Joe Davis.

Joe was a good friend to my uncle, James "Jimmy" Fowlkes. Among many other good deeds, he would often pick up Uncle Jim and Charlie Mebane and drive them to their favorite place to eat, the Eldorado Diner in Elmsford. He continued to do this even after my uncle went in to a nursing home. Joe was a good and kind man. Bless and rest his soul. Bless , comfort and keep his family, relatives and friends. We will miss him.
