Rest in Peace Cousin Patty
October 14, 2017
William Feather once said, "One way to get the most out of life is to look upon it as an adventure". My Aunt Patti was the living embodiment of that quote. To her, the world was an endless opportunity for exploration and excitement. Each and every day was a chance to experience something new.
My Aunt was an entrepreneur who seized any and all chances in life. She was a fiercely independent woman's- moving to Manhattan at a young age and creating a life for herself. It was there that she met her wonderful and loving husband Jeff.
After 15 years living the fast-paced life of the city that never sleeps, Patti thought it was time to begin a new chapter in her life. So she moved back to her hometown of Yonkers to open a local business. Her own way of giving back to the community that raised her. In many ways PJ's Deli brought our family closer together. I remember coming in to buy candy and getting so excited to see my cousins Catherine and Anthony behind the counter.
In a lot of ways my Aunt was like a magnetic force that drew us all together. She took my sister , Maeghan and I on an amazing vacation to the Bahamas back in 2002. She threw some of the best backyard bbq's ever while living in Yonkers. It was there that I met my newest cousins Samantha and Patrick. While going through and old photo album I found a great picture of me standing on my Uncle Dave's shoulders in her backyard pool.
My Aunt was a beautiful person inside and out. I remember the day I saw her get married to the love of her life and how stunning she looked. I would like to take a moment to thank my Uncle Jeff for loving my aunt the way she deserved. The happiest I ever saw her was while she was with you. The home you two created with your precious baby girls Mickey & Gehrig was full of warmth, love, and joy.
Aunt Patti was my grandma and grandpas oldest daughter and she took that role to a whole new level. She was the boss and everyone knew it. She was never afraid to tell you what she thought, she was never afraid to put you in your place if you needed it and she never failed to be there when you needed her. She was one of the most caring people I know.
Examining her life as a whole, Patti left us all with heads full of memories and hearts full of more love than any of us thought possible without her. She was, and will always be a force in all our lives.
