Farewell Pauline - with sincere gratitude for nearly 60 years' friendship.

A friendship lasting all these years since we arrived in White Plains from Norway in 1959 and you came knocking on our door welcoming us to the neighborhood. And during our five years in the US: always hospitable, warmhearted and generous with your Come on in! whenever any one of us should happen to drop by the Oliva's on Trenton avenue.

A special thanks for the close friendship that developed between yourself and Mother, Reidun, which continued throughout all the following years - resulting in your visiting us in Norway and Mother visiting you in WP and Montauk. She talked of you with warmth and respect her whole life.

And for Paul and myself a trip to the US would be unthinkable without a stop in WP and a visit with Pauline, Pat and the rest of the Oliva's - the link to our American past.

During my last visit in 2015 you once again opened your home for me. Over breakfast and in the evenings we had good talks, covering many of the topics you always were so engaged in. Including life itself.

For us you always represented the best of American values: fairness, courage, openness, social commitment, integrity and generosity in every sense of the word. Besides being the witty, wise, warm and wonderful You that we all loved so much.

I am sad that I no longer will hear your clear voice inviting me to Come on in! but I am grateful to have known you.

Thank you, Pauline!

Pauline was a great lady ,a staunch supporter of sound planning for White Plains and a wonderful role model for a good government legislator
