Carmelo J. Selvaggio
AGE: 85 • Harrison
Carmelo J. Selvaggio, Jr., of Harrison, passed away on October 8, 2017, after a long illness. He was 85. Carmelo was born in Harrison on July 20, 1932 to Carmelo & Mary Selvaggio. He attended Harrison High School, where he played football as an offensive and defensive lineman and was the team's place-kicker. He served in the U.S. Army as an infantryman in Korea. He worked for many years at AMF and for IBM. In his spare-time he coached Little League and softball teams, played weekly rounds of golf, and attended Giant football games. Predeceased by his brother John and sisters Esther (James) and Theresa. Survived by niece Susan Egan, nephews James Egan and Kevin Egan (Mary Lou), as well as Emily and Gregory Egan. The family wishes to thank the staff of United Hebrew Geriatric Center for the excellent care Carmelo received. To honor his life, family and friends will gather on October 13, 2017, from 4 pm to 8 pm at COXE & GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME 767 E. Boston Post RD. Mamaroneck, 914-698-5968. Carmine was a coach of ours back at IBM and our travelling team called the Westchester Hurricaines.
He was always a happy go lucky guy and loved to help us in our practices and games.
A very gentle man, so sorry to hear he has past .
