Fannie Moscato Obituary

Moscato, Fannie

Fannie Chiaravalle Moscato, age 100, of Bardonia NY, passed away on Saturday Oct. 14, 2017. Fannie was born June 26, 1917 in the Bronx, NY the daughter of Donato and Maria Felice (Magro) Chiavalle. She married Matthew Moscato on September 24, 1939; he predeceased her on Aug 3, 1999. They were married 60 years.

After graduating High School, Fannie worked in Manhattan as a secretary for an Insurance Company. She was proud of her command of both Greg and Pittman shorthand.

Fannie became a full time homemaker with the birth of her children. Fannie dedicated her life to her family and friends, always caring for her grandchildren and making sure everyone was well fed.

She is survived by her loving children, Dominick/Rose (predeceased) Moscato and Daniel and his wife Rosemary Moscato, her grandchildren, Dana, Douglas, Andrea Woska and her husband Jim, Matthew, Mark Moscato, Donna and her husband Eric Lahl and Vicki and her husband Brian Crane, great grandchildren, Matthew, Daniel, Ava, Derek, Rosemarie, Johnathan and Jason. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Aida Moscato (104), her nephews, Joseph Maselli, Dominick/ Carmen (predeceased) Moscato, Anthony/Christine Moscato and Philip/Barbara Moscato, Dominick Rao (predeceased) and John/Linda Rao, her nieces, Angela/Pat Amatulle, Joan/Joe Rinaldi and Dolores (predeceased). Fannie was also predeceased by her 9 year old brother, Louis and 3 year old sister, Philomena.. and her beautiful, loving sister, Lucy.

Fannie was a blessing to all those who knew her, she was compassionate and consoling to those that needed someone to talk to.

She loved cooking and caring for her family up until her passing, always making extra pasta and meatballs every Sunday to share.

She would greet everyday as a gift from God that should not be wasted by complaining. She viewed each day as an opportunity to do something good for someone else. When questioned about her philosophy of helping others she would say "that's what we are here for".

She was active with the Bardonia and St. Joseph's Senior Clubs holding several leadership positions and was the Clarkstown Senior of the Year in 2008. She loved going to the casinos whether she won or not.

Fannie touched many lives with her love and compassion during her 100 + years and we are all the better for it.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday Oct. 18, 2017at 10:00 am in St. Anthony's Shrine Church, 36 West Nyack Rd., Nanuet, NY. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery.

Sometimes you meet a person and you just click. That was the way it was with Fannie and my mom, Nancy Sacco. They would talk on the telephone everyday, go out to lunch quite often, and enjoyed riding the bus to Empire together. They were very comfortable with each other. Towards the end of mom's life (she passed away in March of 2016) Fannie would call her every day. Mom always looked forward to her calls. Fannie was a great soul, and the memories I have of her kindness shall never fade. Hopefully Fannie and mom will meet in a place where there is no darkness or pain.
Rest In Peace, Fannie.
