Thank you for all of your notes, thoughts and prayers. My father was a very humble man, and I know he would have been very appreciative to know that so many people cared for him and his family.
He lived to make everyone around him happy, and touched so many different lives - as a teacher in the Bronx; as a youth mentor at Camp Hill, the Nanuet Kadima, Sunday School teacher, South Orangetown 'Weekend Warrior', Tappan Zee HS Booster Club, Tappan T-Shirt League, and Orangetown Mighty Midgets; as a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and adopted father and friend to everyone around him.
I know his legacy is secure in my brother (a teacher, coach, and father) and myself (a coach, father, and former teacher). We both run our own summer camp programs, and are actively involved in our children's lives.
We all need to live our lives with the same positive energy and happiness that my father was so committed to spread. His passing leaves a huge void that has left me saddened and grief-stricken, but I need to focus on spreading that same joy and cheer that fulfilled his life. I know he would be distraught if he felt that his loved ones were unhappy, and I need to focus on carrying on his legacy, being happy and positive - that's what he would have wanted.
