Thomas F. Flynn was born in the City of Yonkers in 1932 and passed away on April 1, 2015. He was the beloved son of Thomas and Lena Flynn, and stepmother Catherine Flynn. Thomas attended and graduated from Sacred Heart Grammar School and later from Sacred Heart High School in 1950. He later graduated from Manhattan College and was later awarded two Masters Degrees. Thomas was wed to Lucy Grasso in 1959. They were devoted to each other throughout their marriage and in his final days Lucy provided constant love and support with the assistance of family and dear friends that was greatly appreciated. Thomas retired after being a schoolteacher for thirty-three years. He began his teaching career in the Bronx and later spent the majority of his career teaching Social Studies in Yonkers. He had a passion for teaching, was a member of the Yonkers Historical Society and gave lectures on various historical topics, but his favorite topic of interest was the history of his beloved hometown Yonkers, NY. Thomas was a devoted and loving father to his three sons; Thomas (Amy) Flynn, William (Adrienne) Flynn and Daniel (Stefanie) Flynn. He was happiest when surrounded by his grandchildren; Daniel, Christian, Brendan, Ryan and Teddy who adored him. When they were babies he held them every day and took them for long strolls in the carriage and was a loving grandfather up to his final days. He cherished the annual family vacations to the Jersey Shore and the time spent together with family. Thomas is also survived by his sisters, Doris (Peter) Capurso and Catherine (Kappy) (the late Raymond) Fallon; his in laws, Josephine (Dominic) Loguidice, Clara (the late Norman) Gardner, and Salvatore (Regina) Grasso, and by many beloved nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be on Monday April 6, 2015, 5-9 P.M. at Flynn Funeral Home and a Funeral Mass will be held on April 7, 2015 at 10 A.M. at St. Anthony's Church on Nepperhan Ave. in Yonkers, NY.
