CAUMMISAR, EARL STANLEY "STAN" SR., 94, born in Louisville on March 27, 1918, passed away January 17, 2013.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Marjorie Bell Caummisar and is survived by his three daughters, Kathleen (Alan) Carter, Granby, CO, Madeline (Stewart) Nunn, Memphis, TN and Carolyn (James) Morgan, Orlando, FL ; two sons, Stanley (Elizabeth) Caummisar Jr., Memphis and Richard (Carol) Caummisar, Amarillo, TX; two granddaughters; one grandson; three step-grandsons; two stepgranddaughters; one great-granddaughter; two great-grandsons and many stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was a Southern gentleman, a devout Catholic, loving husband, and exceptional role model to his five children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His children were proud to call him "dad." Stan was a World War II combat veteran who proudly served in the U.S. Army in New Guinea, Luzon, the Philippines, and Korea with the 706th Ordnance Light Maintenance Company. In 1965, he moved to Memphis and opened Xerox's regional branch. After retiring as vice-president of Speer Products, he was an avid golfer and an active volunteer for the FedEx/St. Jude Golf Classic. For 18 years, he sold tournament sponsorships and was named Salesman of the Year multiple times.
Visitation will be held 4:30 -7 p.m. Monday at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, Memphis, with funeral services at 1 p.m. Tuesday at The Church of the Holy Spirit, Memphis.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to The Monastery of St. Clare, 1310 Dellwood Ave., Memphis, TN 38127-6343; the Church of the Holy Spirit, 2300 Hickory Crest Dr. Memphis, TN 38119 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
