Joe Walsh

Dear Walsh Family,

I am so sorry for your loss. Coach Walsh was superlative in every sense of the word. He would light up a room and had a positive impact on so many lives. As it has been said earlier, thank you for sharing your husband and father with us. In college, I was a staunch supporter of The Suffolk Women's Basketball Team and would cheer “loudly” with Suffolk Pride! I also ran cross country for Coach Walsh and was the Manager of the “Mutts” for one season. I am truly a better person for these experiences!

We all have Coach Walsh stories, I know I have many. One of my favorite stories was from Spring Training with the “Mutts” in 1993. In Florida, we attended a Major League Baseball Spring Training Game. We talked our way into the game and got great seats for the entire team. During the game, Coach told me I could run faster than the guys on the field. He dared me to prove it. So, I ended up jumping onto the field and running the bases during the game.
I out ran everyone that gave chase!

Dear Sandra, Tory, Holly, Katie and Kasey,

I first met Joe over forty years ago as a young ten year old kid growing up down Walsh Park in Dorchester and Joe was our playground councilor. The memories and stories were priceless. Joe was a Great friend to all of us, we were blessed to have known him. It was a sad week hearing of the passing of Joe. He would always bring a GOOD story,laugh and smile to your face. The Good ones are never forgotten and Joe was one of the Good ones. We will never forget our Dear Coach, Friend and the Legend of Joe Walsh.

To the Family of Coach Walsh - Our prayers and thoughts are with you at this time. Coach Walsh was a terrific person in so many ways. He touched our lives in ways that cannot be measured. Our son Michael was blessed to play baseball for him. He will be truely missed.

I remember you telling me how much you loved Sandra and your girls, I remember you telling me not to give up while I ran in a cross country meet at Southern Maine, I remember our talks about pitching and keeping my composure, I remember the fence hopping at BU for practices, I remember you pitching batting practice and taking you yard..ha (we laughed at that for years), I remember the van rides and taking wrong turns (if only we had smart phones with video back then.ha), I remember the day that you told me that I could not play in my "senior year". I remember the day you asked me to go to the store in between games to get some refreshments for the guys and I gave you $14.00 in change from a $20 bill...priceless. There are so many memories that I will never forget. Thank you for being you. You will be missed. Rest in peace coach.
