To the Thompson family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Herman was a dear friend to my dad George King, Sr and me and my brothers. He was such a classy, kind man. He helped me when I was just a budding artist. He and his business partner at Captain's Closet, Ron Pendergrass commissioned me to do my first celebrity drawing when I was 18 years old. It was of a friend of theirs, R&B singer Billy Paul of "Me and Mrs. Jones" fame. I was sky high!!! Herman always asked me if I was still drawing whenever I would see him. In fact I hadn't seen him in probably 20 years, but I was back home in 2012 visiting my Dad and he got Herman on the phone so we could chat. The first thing Herman asked me was, "Are you still drawing?" He was someone to behold. Thanks for allowing me to share what was a big first step that he helped me take toward my creative career.
May you find joy in your memories at the appropriate time and may God bless you all.
