CLEVENGER, HOWARD TALMADGE, 88, of Louisville, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2013.
He was born in McEwen, TN, to William Branford Clevenger and Martha Catherine (Shanks) Clevenger. He served in Europe during World War II as a member of the 387th Armored Division-Anti-Aircraft and was employed for 38 years at DuPont Chemical as a Lab Technician. Howard was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and his beagle dogs. He also liked to play darts and cards, square dance, and sit in his backyard, smoke his pipe and feed the squirrels. He was a charter member of his church, Good Shepherd Lutheran, and volunteered many hours there.
Howard was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Emma Louise (Cissna) Clevenger; his son, Roger; and grandson Reed.
Survivors include his children, Howard "Pete" (Sandy), Nancy "Kay" and Carol (Kathy); daughter-in-law, Debbie; grandchildren, Holly (Grady), Tad Alex (Chris), Nathan (Stephanie), Tim, Joe (Betsy), Forest and Clay; and great-grandchildren, Tegan, Sophie, Kylee, James, Amelia, Wyatt, and Anna.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 9718 Dixie Highway, with burial in Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway. Memorial Gifts may be made to his church.

Carol and family, Bill and I are saddened by the loss of your father. We know how much you will miss him. Always we enjoyed talking with him and appreciate the role he played in founding the church. Sorry to hear about the loss of Howard.... I played Dart Ball with Howard for many many years and I would drive by Howard's house hoping to see him sitting out in the front yard.... I would always stop and sit out there with him and chat.... He will be really missed....
