I was shocked and saddened to learn of Ivan's passing only recently. Ivan was the best securities lawyer I was ever around. As a young CPA working with him on bank mergers and acquisitions, I learned much more than any textbood ever taught. He was also very funny and made work fun. He had many sayings, but my favorite was when we were in a crowd of people he would say to me "here we are with the greats and near greats". One of my favorite trips not involving work was going with him to a Bengals game. We had such great fun.

Ivan and Penny visited us in Wyoming...he absolutely immersed himself in the state and its culture while here (even acquiring a hat and Wrangler jeans). He loved every minute and we loved every minute spent with him. Ricky, he would ask of me, are we having fun yet? Yes, Ivan, we did.

I recently learned of Ivan's death. I worked with Ivan from 1990-1994. Ivan was great fun and a very interesting man. I am sorry for his family's loss. I lost my mother June 15, 2013 and the pain is still with me daily. My condolences.

As a "Northern” cousin (my Mother, Sylvia Peltz Goldstein - Washington, DC), there were only a few occasions that Ivan and I were together. Those were cherished though – Ivan was ever the charmer!

Over the past nine years, I have been in close contact with his sister Rita Stearman; and she has shared what a loving and adoring family Ivan has, how professionally successful he became - a genteel gentleman!

I hope through all the endearing memories that have been created, Penny and her family, sister Rita, and Aunt Helen's healing will be as peaceful as possible.

I was shocked and saddened at Ivan's passing. We grew up together in Jacksonville. I lost track of his whereabouts until a few years ago. We played some hoops together in high school and ran around in the same crowd. I'm sure he was excellent at any of his pusuits be it law or keeping company. My condolences to Penny and his entire family. Your friend in the past.

To Mr. Diamond's family: I doubt any of you have met me, and Ivan most likely would not recall who I am, but through college I worked at a music store in Oxmoor center in the mid 80's and would help Ivan with his latest jazz artist purchases. I quickly surmised his appetite for music was quite prodigious! He was the most engaging, nice and kind soul I had the pleasure of serving during my time at the store. I simply felt compelled to share this with you, as I've always remembered him since, and tried to treat people in my life with the same interest and respect. I'm certain his passing is a great blow to you who love him. Please accept my sincere condolences and my thanks for him crossing my life's path, I'm all the better for it...

Ivan Diamond was a very important mentor to me. As a young kid of around 14 or 15 years of age, I used to earn pocket money cutting the grass on his (very large, as I recall) lawn. But what was memorable to this day were the conversations, during breaks or after work, with Ivan and Penny about the law, and the securities industry. I went on to have a career in the investment banking industry which took me to New York, Singapore, and London. The seed for this was planted in those discussions many years ago. That this man took the time to engage with and mentor a kid who worked in his yard about his area of professional expertise tells you everything you need to know about the character of Ivan Diamond. I am forever grateful for his guidance and advice, and shall miss him greatly.

My sympathies for your long struggle. May God bless in your hour of need.

Ivan was a mentor, a teacher, and friend. He represented the best of our legal profession. We are now the less as a community. Our prayers are with Penny and the family.
