SMITH, ALBERTA L., 75, of Crestwood, KY, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.
Alberta's love for nature and animals was surpassed only by the intense love she had for her family. She could carry an upbeat conversation with anyone about sports, especially if it had to do with NASCAR, or the Louisville Cards. After retiring from a fulfilling career at what once was The Bank of Oldham County, she was able to dedicate more of her time to being the nature enthusiast, the supportive mother and grandmother, the lover of animals, and the soul whose happiness was most evident in the presence of loved ones. Her spirit dwells in the water and the sun, helping her small garden grow, just as the experiences she shared with those of us, lucky to be part of her life, continue to help us grow in strength and in peace.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John O. Smith, Jr.
Alberta is survived by her children, Pam (Mike) Strait, Wendy Jo (Tim) Carr, James (Jackie) Smith and Robin Lee Smith, and nine grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Stoess Funeral Home, Crestwood, followed by burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens East. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Hosparus of Louisville.
